This is a non profit holistic school.
Since we are part of the Progressive Education Movement, we hold the following common values with other progressive methodologies such as Waldorf, Montessori, Sudbury Valley and Forest Schools, and Reggio Emilia Education, Stem Learning, among others.
We are a small school varying from 3 students up to 12. Our curriculum is in English but we love volunteers to share other languages with the children and have a flexible schedule that we can incorporate it into the program.
The school is made up of families from around the world from different cultures but we all share the belief that each children is different and learns a different rate. We want a safe, naturing place that are children are respected and can be who they are.
The children learn surf, are out in the community helping others, practicing yoga and mindfulness, learning about the environment and how to protect it. The curriculum is hands on, and fun.
The school is evolving and growing with each volunteer that we have had and we are so great full for everyone that has been a part of this project and will be a part of this program in the future.
We are a family with small children 7 and 5, we have 3 cats and 2 dog. My husband and I are originally from Canada but have been living in Ecuador for over 12 years. We run two other business which is a surf, yoga, spanish school and an Organic Cafe and Soltastic which is a natural skin care line. As you can imagine we are busy especially with spending time with our kids but we do our best to get to know our volunteers.
Our children were homeschooled for a two years before we had the intention to open this place. Working in tourism for over 10 years we have met such a amazing people who have inspired us, shared knowledge with us and made us better people, we want to give our children the same oppurtunities. Around the same time we were realizing that their were other families that were looking for the same thing. That is what moved us to create this place
Babysitting and creative play
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We want to provide a teaching platform where the objective is not to get the best scores but to inspire. We want to support educator to share from their hearts. If you believe in the educating the whole person then please this is the position for you.
Our place opened its doors in 2018 and it growing with each year. We are looking for a volunteer that has experience teaching children whether this is in a traditional classroom setting or something less traditional, such as Forest School. We would love the volunteer to have experience teaching yoga for children as we incorporate pranayamas, mantras and asanas in the classroom. Our curriculum uses art, music, dance, surf and lots and lots of fun. There is help with blogging as well.
If you are an educator, love children and want a place to share your knowledge.
This position is the lead in the kinder group 3-6. The position is Monday to Friday 8:30-12:30 with a weekly meeting on friday 2pm to go over the week and discuss the following week. We do have a curriculum but you would be responsible for planning the day for your group. There is another teacher who is working with 7-9 year olds.
We have one zoom meeting a week or two weeks with our school in Canada.
There is a 15hrs mindfulness and yoga for kids course that you would be responsible to take before you started the position which we have created especially for our program. The school is cleaned once a week but you would along with the other volunteer be responsible to clean and prepare the space for the children.
Snack is provided, we have aerial yoga on Tuesdays and surf days on Thursday the rest of the days yoga classes for the kids.
The children leave the school frequently so you would be responsible for their safety while in the community. We do have children with english as their second/third language.
No cell phones, tablets, or videos in class except if they have been approved in the meeting.
Because of the nature of the children we don't like to have volunteers going in and out there is a minimum of 3 months with the option to extend up until 2 years (that can be discussed after into the exchange)
If this is something that you would be interested and feel you have the ability to do, please contact us
Thanks so much
