    Description

    HI!

We are looking for workaway volunteers with an up to date clear Criminal Records Check. The CRC you used to enter Canada is perfect. I need a screenshot please. The company I work for requires it. Thank you for your understanding. 💜

My family of 2 boys, 2 ladies, and I live near Victoria, BC. We lease land to house our animals near to us. We raise cows for beef and milk, which our family consumes. We sell the excess beef we raise.
We have hosted people from all over the world and we love the diversity of language and cultures. I'm an experienced host with over 14 years of opening my home to others.

We need help moving cattle in pastures and the daily animal care- feeding, watering, sorting food and milking our milk cow. We have a 17' trailer in our yard where our farm helpers stay. It suits one person well.

I work from home as the main care provider for a young lady with Downs Syndrome and Autism, and another lady with Developmental Delay and high anxiety. Supervision and light meal prep is all that is needed, there is absolutely no personal care.

We prefer long stays due to the nature of the help, but email me with your availability. Preference given to those willing to commit to 6 weeks or more.

We are surrounded by nature and it's a great place to live if you like that! Bikes and trails close to the house. Bus stop is a short walk away. The ocean is close by, as are shopping opportunities.
A driver's license is a must!!! You don't have to have a vehicle.

Fall/winter tasks include feeding and caring for our cows and milking our girl. We use a food program and sort unwanted food for our animals as well, to keep it out of the landfill. The cows LOVE the variety and get so excited when we arrive with boxes of veggies and fruits for them.

Spring and summer tasks include feeding/ watering animals, milking the cow(s), moving fences and the cows to fresh pasture, veterinary care, gardening, weeding and help with preserving produce in season. Construction and building skills are a bonus, if you have them! We enjoy spending time with our farm helpers and doing fun things too!

At the moment, we are actively developing amd moving to a new shelter and winter area for our cows. We have 2 calves that are fed milk daily, but we are weaning them by the end of September. We are preparing our home and yard for winter and decluttering our belongings to fit our new, smaller home. Our life can be chaotic at times, but it's a house full of love and acceptance.
