    Description

    Hi there!

We are a family of three, soon to be 4 (March 2023) living in beautiful Andalusia, Spain.

We’ve been enjoying the beauty of Almuñecar (Granada) since the summer of 2020 and here is where our son Leo was born (in April 2021).

Dragan (44) and myself (Sara, 29) both work 4-5h from home, for our own company, while Leo goes to the kindergarten, and then we tend to spend the afternoons outside exploring, at the beach or hanging out with friends.

We both have roots in the Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia), where we met, but we’ve lived around the world and we adore traveling and interacting with other cultures.

Some of the places where Dragan has lived include the US and Dubai, and also on board a transatlantic cruise ship, while I was born in Barcelona and have moved between Spain and Serbia during my schooling years, traveling across Europe a lot and then spending the last two pre pandemic years living in South Africa.

We are a non smoking vegetarian family who loves the outdoors, learning, music, sports, having a good time and meeting new people.

We value our time as a family a lot, are outgoing but love to rest and have our quiet time after exploring, so we’d be happy to share our space with someone with similar interests. Someone who loves to explore alone or in a group, but also rest during the night, especially on busy weekdays.

As the weather in Almuñecar is very nice during the whole year, and the winters are very mellow, our town attracts many foreigners - it’s a real melting pot!

After living in big cities around the world, and with the pandemic and its restrictions, we found ourselves wanting to escape into a more tranquil area. We found that Almuñecar offers everything one needs without the crazy pace that cities have, with the added bonus of having two big cities (Málaga and Granada) less than 1 hour drive away to enjoy when wanted.

Also, many weekend escapades can be organized with low cost carriers to other Spanish or European cities easily and economically!

As an added bonus, a neighboring village (La Herradura) is known to be a hub for many world schooling families, workawayers and foreigners in general - forming a big community in which we enjoy and share many activities together, from fun meet ups at the beach, to kid parties, hikes, and more!

Of course, living in Spain and interacting in Spanish in stores, restaurants and even at home (since my mother tongue is Spanish) can be a benefit for you if you’re looking to learn or improve your language skills.

    Help

We are looking for someone who could be a helping hand with house chores and babysitting/creative play.

Some days the help offered would be staying with our son while we go out together just the two of us for a few hours at night, or taking Leo to the playground in the afternoon/playing with him at home when we have a meeting that we can’t pospone.

Besides that, we’re looking to find someone who could help us a couple of days a week with general chores around the house like tidying up the kitchen/living area/bathrooms, cooking an easy dinner for the family or running some simple errands if we don’t have the time for it.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We live in the charming old town of Almuñécar, in a pedestrian street, only 4 minutes away from the beautiful beach and strand. Many restaurants, bars and shops are only a hop away from our doorstep.

We have a spacious newly renovated 4 bedroom flat that has everything one needs to feel at home. A private double room, your own toilet and easy access to the kitchen and laundry area will all be provided to you. The bathroom would be shared (as there is only one shower in the flat).

The distribution of the flat makes the room of the person staying with us very private as our rooms are on the other side of the flat, separated from the first part of the flat by a big 30m2 living room.

Food wise, we usually eat breakfast together around 8am, before taking our son to kindergarten, and we have dinner with him around 6-7pm.

He eats lunch at school, so Dragan and myself either eat together at home, go out for a meal, or eat separately if we have a lot of work/meetings and our schedules don’t match.

We’re open to either adding you to our routine or giving you the space to arrange the meals however you would like.

We would prefer having someone who shares similar values when it comes to food (vegan/vegetarian) but it is not a must as we respect the decision of others.

    What else ...

We think that a person who loves the outdoors would thoroughly enjoy living in Almuñecar.

The town is perfect for biking, walking, and hiking lovers as there are many trails near us. The climate is very mellow and you can enjoy the beach and outdoor activities all year around, while being less than 1 hour away from skiing in Sierra Nevada.

Also, if you’re into exploring new cities in a weekend Andalusia has a wide range of beautiful, historically rich ones to offer, being the biggest autonomous community in Spain.

Furthermore, many other Spanish and European cities are easily accesible with carriers as Vueling, WizzAir, RyanAir, etc.

Having a valid driving license would be a recommendation as it’s much easier to get around neighboring towns by car, but there is always the option of using public transportation.
