Description
I live in the small village of Tazo among 10,000 palm trees on the Canary Island of La Gomera and need help in the garden of our property. There is a terrace with about 15 fruit trees, where I would also like to create a small vegetable garden, but unfortunately I have neither the time nor the experience for everything that needs to be done.
You will get a holiday flat, a box of organic vegetables every week and a supermarket shopping for self-catering. If I have to go away for a week or two, it would be great if you could feed the three cats once a day and, if you get on with him, maybe look after my dog too, but that's not a requirement.
You can come alone or as a couple, and you are welcome to bring your dog if he is well-behaved with other dogs and people.
Having your own car would be helpful, as the nearest bus stop is 15 minutes away by car, but it's not essential.
The sea is 20 minutes away by car or 75 minutes on foot. There are lovely walks and hikes to be had around Tazo.
We live here in a scattered settlement with just under 20 neighbours, locals and foreigners, as well as a few dogs, cats, chickens and peacocks, and we have a very nice village community.
Tazo is a small, wonderfully peaceful paradise with daily sunsets over the sea in the so-called Wild West of La Gomera.
There is not much going on here in the village unless we organise something together, there are no shops, no bars, no restaurants, just beautiful nature and peace and quiet, So if you love solitude without wanting to be lonely, Tazo is the right place for you!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I am German and the second holiday flat is occasionally occupied by international guests, often Spanish, during the summer. A handful of locals live in the village plud three Germans, two Swiss, two Belgians and one Irish neighbour.
I give 1:1 Breathwork Sessions and enjoy showing Workaway guests this wonderful technique!
The tourist centre of Valle Gran Rey, with its hippie flair from days gone by, is 45 minutes away by car.
Help
Making compost, then planting the vegetable garden, pruning the fruit trees if necessary and treating them for pests (organically!) if needed, as well as tending to three small flower beds and watering the plants once or twice a week.
