  • Description

For us, Brenda and Matias, the hostel represents the realization of a dream. I am Argentine and came to Ecuador looking for a new way of life that allows me to enjoy every second lived, to constantly meet new people and hear stories from all over the world.

The hostel is just a 2 min walk away from the beach, and a swift 5 minute walk into town. We pride ourselves in not being a party hostel like most in town. Our hostel environment is one of a warm home with an extended family being our volunteers and guests. It is an abode inhabited by sensitivity and art; a footprint which impregnates the space through paintings on the walls, wooden craftsmanships furniture, music, humor, and idiosyncrasies of the people that inhabit it. It is a space where difference is welcomed, and accepted by anyone that wants to share, cooperate and live together.

We have a cat, like every great hostel should- he is super friendly and playful. On sunny days you can often find iguanuas sun bathing on our trees. At night sometimes cows and horses will come eat from our lawn.

Our goal as a hostel is for the guests and volunteers to feel like home when they visit. So if you’re a bit home-sick, come to our home and be part of this experience. This is more than just a job, it's our passion, and we would like to share with you the good vibes that our hostel and Montañita offer us day to day.

A huge benefit of living in a hostel is that you get to meet people from all over the world. Working and interacting with locals/travelers not only allows you to build personal relationships but to also learn about the Ecuadorian as well as other cultures from a local perspective. If you are looking to learn more Spanish, we will be more than happy to help you. Being bilingual is a huge benefit, not only when you're traveling but it's a major plus for work. The hostel family tends to take turns cooking, so you will be trying out different gastronomical meals. Montañita beach is known for its waves, so if you want to surf this is the spot.

  • Help

The hostel began two years ago, but there's still lots of work to be done. That is why we ask for help on different tasks. We are seeking responsible, energetic, charismatic, low-drama, good vibing people with creative ideas.

There are many projects that we need to get started on that could use an extra pair of hands and brains. As of now, the responsibilities for the volunteers would be to cover reception, cleaning, and maintenance of the hostel. We need an innovative mind to make the common area more appealing.

We have a front yard and backyard that desperately need your hands. We wish to abilitate the space but the project is still in works, hopefully, you can help us make it happen as we would love for the outside area to reach its potential. Gathering leaves and weeding will also be part of the job.

We love to hang out and have a good time but we are also looking for individuals who are hard workers, and self-motivated to help contribute to our overall vision. There is always something to do in the hostel even in low season. We need someone who can multi-task and isn't afraid of getting their hands dirty.

You can catch a bus infront of our hostel that will take you in 5 min. north or south, either direction, to small towns with quiet beaches and great views. If you like hikes, and adventure you can explore the jungle mountains just 10 min away in Dos Mangas or deep in El Tigrillo. There are different local grocery stores and cheap restaurants to eat next to the Hostel if you are looking to save some bucks. We go to the beach to work on our tan-lines, play frisbee, or to just chill and hang, you're always more than welcomed to join us.
