    Description

We are just starting with our vision here at Shri Durga Vatika, and we are passionate about living on and consciously off the land as close to mother nature as possible. We are here to create and share this beautiful land with like-minded souls interested in living a life based around organic, yogic and ayurvedic principles. Understanding, mother nature provides all the nourishment and best medicine at our fingertips. This land which is set in the Himalayan mountains also often referred to as Shivalik mountains, the kingdom of Shiva. We are so blessed to be custodians of this sacred land in the state of North India known as Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand “ which means the land of the Gods”.

We also offer interested people in the colder weather months, the option of staying in homestay mountain village life, just up the mountain from us (also part of our property).

We are situated approx 30 mins drive from the Rishikesh, India. We are a beautiful jungle trek up the mountain through lush vegetation and freshwater springs which take about 15mins to arrive at our Medicine Garden. We are also only 15 min walk to the sacred Ganges.

The property is approx 3 acres. Volunteers are asked to help out in building a community space close to nature. Either by helping in the garden, we are keen to consume our own produce from our medicine garden. We would like help in weeding, planting and seeding, watering when season required. We would love to share this beautiful land with folks who are keen to live a simple life, connecting us again to the natural rhythms of Mother Nature and our internal life. If you have a specific skill in carpentry/building and are familiar with eco-home construction using natural materials like bamboo, stone, mud and wood.
Carpenter/builder - We would very much like to restore our original stone/mud house and the cement house. This would require, sanding repatching walls, painting interior and exterior. Stone mason - someone knowledgeable about how to utilise this very rich natural resources this land has to share with us. We have plenty of natural stones from the river that we would love to bring to life in the traditional stone house.
