    Description

We are a humble homestead of craftsmen nestled in rural Latvia on the banks of the Salaca River. We met on the road some many moons ago and after years of traveling here and there we decided that it was time to dig our roots down. We have a big organic garden, and just chickens at the moment (that could always change we used to have goats and sheep) We spend the green season outside harvesting wild plants and berries, gardening, and outdoor creative projects. In the winter we are full time craftsmen. Clare is a weaver, normally a carpet maker and Edgars is a potter and wood worker, focusing on music insturments and snowshoes. We are also crafters of all sorts including medicines, herbs, wine, moonshine, dairy products, preserves, natural Building, etc! We place a large emphasis on wild food, so it may very well be a part of your everyday. Oh main ,,bread maker,, is making and selling tools for handweaving.
the land we dwell on is part of a National park. The river , the Salaca, is mystical and full of peace. There is red sandstone cliffs and even a little cave and all around is forest. Here the forest is full of plenty of riches like bilberries, raspberries, strawberries, lingon berries, mushrooms! juniper, and plenty of other green allies.
we love to enjoy life and celebrate as much as we can (especially with a bottle of homemade blueberry wine or apple cider:) we often play music and go on adventures or simply make them at the home.

You will learn a lot about plants and fungi, how to preserve them, use them, eat them;) It all depends what time of year. Other things you can always learn if you are a curious learner, like weaving or woodworking.

  • Help

    Help

help depends on what time of the year. but usually it could be some garden chores, in the fruit orchard, with the goats, or building something (like an outdoor pizza oven!)
