We are Jon-Scot & Guido, a Scottish-Italian couple (guess which one of us is Scottish and which is Italian?) living in Umbria, central Italy, in a beautiful house in the country with two very friendly dogs, six lovely cats, a gaggle of crazy geese and a small flock of chickens.
We are very busy, especially during the spring, looking after our garden with fruit trees and lots of grass needing cut. We need help from mainly in spring/early summer - so April to July, but we'd also like an experienced pair of hands in the Autumn for clearing up and pruning.
We are good fun guys, chilled and enjoy a peaceful, rural life. Also, we thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and hearing their amazing stories about their travels! (We are gay, but you don't need to be).

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We will provide accommodation in our spacious guest bedroom with king-size bed, three meals per day (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) with drinks, free WiFi broadband internet and also plenty time off to explore central Italy. We have made great friends through Workaway and a similar site that we have used for longer and we are open to making so many more friendships! We live only 1.5 hours drive from Rome.
I am a trained English teacher so I can help volunteers perfect their English and I am more than happy to do so! Actually - try to stop me from helping you improve your English!
Since 2012 (originally on another platform), we have hosted people from all over the world. We are keen to host people from countries that we have never hosted before, so we can collect more flags. Of course also happy to host more new friends from the countries we have hosted in the past!

Jan/February 2021 - We might take ONE person to help around the house, feed pets, walk dogs and prepare simple lunches during this period.
Spring 2021 - It seems that we are already booked up for that time, but things can change. If you are interested in that period, please contact us in January.
May 2021 - The guy coming in March & April might also stay for May. (Check this space again in March)
June & July 2021 - Feeding the pets, preparing healthy lunches, tending to the garden and some cleaning.
August 2021 - Nobody required
September & October* 2021 - Feeding the pets, preparing healthy lunches, tending to the garden and some cleaning. Tree planting, big branch cutting & pruning and general clearing up for the winter. (1 Person) (*Possibly also November)
December 2021 - House and pet sitting. From the around 20th December to the 30th of December. (Couple or Family)
The above things are a rough plan, but you need to be prepared to do any of these things as the weather often dictates. We don't have men's work and women's work - we have work!
Spacious guest bedroom with kingsize bed. Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner included (sometimes self-service). We can host two Workawayers*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️, but they would need to sleep in the same bed, so better for a couple or 2 close friends. The Kingsize bed can be made with two bed-sets as there are two separate mattresses, but the two single beds have been fused together, so they don't come apart.
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️ But we usually only take 1 at a time.
Todi is small, yet rich in heritage. Have a coffee on Piazza del Popolo, Discover amazing churches like Tempio di Santa Maria della Consolazione, San Fortunato, the Duomo and for a bit of architectural contrast Santuario dell'Amore Misericordioso. You can check out spectacular views from Parco Della Rocca, Piazza Garibaldi, Giardini Oberdan and my favourite Monastero delle Lucrezie. You can indulge in some non-church history at Palazzo del Capitano and the Cisterne Romane (underground Roman Cisterns).
Visit other picturesque Umbrian towns such as Orvieto, Perugia, Spoleto and Assisi.
Explore the landscape Lake Corbara, Lake Trasimeno, Monte Subasio, Piediluco & the Marmore waterfalls and if you are here at the right time - The Flowering of Castelluccio di Norcia.
And if all the rural life gets too much for you, hop on a SULGA bus directly from Todi to Rome.

We recently updated our home wifi network. It is now good in every room of the house plus our outdoor relaxation spaces. The connection is strong. There is a small desk available for the exclusive use of workawayers.
We have hosted a couple with a small motorhome before and we'd be happy to do it again. Just check with us when you contact us.
