I am a 76 year old architect and countryman with cider, perry and damson orchards and a large house and garden. Two young friends live in a converted barn next door - a jazz guitarist and his wife - and two other long-term residents also live in the house with me. We have poultry, goats, dogs and cats as well. We hold regular jazz concerts on site (when possible) and we live a sort of communal life with frequent visitors.

This is an opportunity to experience traditional country living in the west midlands of England. You will be introduced to all aspects of life in this rural location, where hops and fruit are still quite extensively grown.
We live fairly communally, sharing most meals together - food is an important part of life here! We cook from scratch using our own produce where possible, or locally sourced ingredients. We welcome Workawayers to cook and share dishes with us too!
There is often more than one Workawayer staying, so you'll usually have the chance to mix with others from different countries.
Up until March 2020, every month we held small, intimate jazz concerts, and Workawayers were always welcome to attend.
We have over thirty acres of land, including traditional cider apple, perry pear and damson orchards and a kitchen garden, so much of the help we need is based around this.
Specific tasks depend on the season, but include pruning, vegetable gardening, wood collection, splitting and stacking, and general maintenance tasks like fencing and grass cutting. We may also need some help with domestic tasks around the house from time to time.
From early autumn we need help harvesting and processing fruit. Damsons in September, and from late October to December, perry pears and cider apples.
We also have six geese, a turkey, two goats, two dogs and three cats! So we need some help with animal care too.

In the house - you will have your own room, most likely with a shared bathroom. Couples travelling together can be accommodated in a double room.
The house is large and old and can be chilly, even in the summer months, so come prepared! In the winter it's very muddy, so bring clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting dirty - although we do keep some spare pairs of wellies here for visitors.
There is lots of good walking nearby around here, with rolling hills and woods accessible from our door. The Wyre Forest is a ten minute drive away.
Local market towns include Tenbury Wells, Bewdley and Ludlow. Public transport is limited but we can help with lifts.
Bus service number 758, operated by Yarrantons, runs four times a day (Monday to Saturday) between Worcester and Tenbury Wells and stops nearby.
