Description
We live in an EcoVillage, on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington, surrounded by gardens and trees. Our family consists of Mom (34, She/Her, artist, musician, herbalist) and three children (10, 13 and 16). Life in our home is never dull~ the children are lively, creative, emotional, fun, noisy (!) and intelligent. When they aren't in school, they spend their days crafting, playing, studying and biking. They absolutely love our visitors.
Our small town has beautiful forests, beaches and impressive mountains in the distance on three sides, as well as many great restaurants, natural attractions, cultural events and festivals year-round. Look up Port Townsend, WA (our town) and Centrum (an organization that puts on many festivals and workshops here) to get a sense of what this amazing corner of the world has to offer!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our family strives to live in a way that is earth-conscious and spiritually-connected, honoring the intuition and heart to lead us on a path of beauty. The community we live in is likewise dedicated to connective living, with the earth and each other. Our visitors would have the chance to participate in community events and meals (1-2x/week), gardens and building projects (if they were interested), and to experience first-hand what life in this intentional community is like. The natural surroundings here offer many education opportunities! Our children would be glad to teach you what they know of the local flora and fauna. The Peninsula is frequented by orcas, eagles, hawks, otters, deer and more.

Help
We primarily need help with simple house work (dishes, household maintenance and organization, laundry, sweeping/vacuuming, food preparation). As I mentioned, the kids are lively and you often noisy~ a high tolerance for the chaos of a multi-child household is necessary! Organizational skills are a plus, as we seem to be ever in the process of establishing organization systems, for everything to have its place. Our home goes through natural cycles of organization and disarray (our kids are professional "reorganizers"), but we value order and beauty, whenever it's possible.
We do our best to keep our home clean, and expect that our visitors clean up after themselves and be responsible for keeping their accommodations clean. Our Eco Village has beautiful gardens and orchards that we help to tend, and our visitors would be welcome to participate in this work.
On a more personal note: The children's father passed away unexpectedly in December 2019. We need the support and help of grounded, caring, reliable folks~ and will be discerning about who we invite into our home space.Languages spoken

There are a number of options for accommodation here; a small guest studio (separate from our home, but nearby) or a tent (if the weather is nice, not recommended in the winter). Shared kitchen use in our home, with a shared bathroom/shower.
We eat very simple, wholesome foods, mostly organic and local when possible, some chicken and fish. We would be glad to work out a shared meal plan, if that interested our visitors, or are glad to share kitchen space (it's large) for visitors to prepare their own meals. In the Eco Village, there is a communally-shared art studio space, as well as shared gardens and open spaces outdoors. There are no synthetic fragrances, smoking or drug-use allowed at the EcoVillage (or in our home), and we prefer no alcohol consumption. What else ...
This town is a perfect balance of quiet and active, with many great cultural events, movies, dance, art and music festivals/workshops, year-round. There is a wooden boat-building school in our town, and there is also a wonderful movie theatre, which has fun, diverse films. Seattle is a 2-2.5 hour trip by car (a little longer by bus) and ferry boat, if the city is of interest. We may be able to share our vehicles sometimes and rideshare as needed, but everything in Port Townsend is accessible by bus or bike (we can find a bicycle for our visitors to borrow). There are many beaches, hiking/biking trails, mountains and other natural attractions to be explored in our area.
