Update: ~ We won’t be available during sept/oct (if you don’t have a van/caravan) maybe in november! ~

Your main tasks this autumn will be: Help with renovating the outdoor walls on the house. We are renovating with eco friendly materials and it's important that you feel comfortable with working outside with your hands and use tools. Now the summer will end and it's very important that you can stay outside even if the weather is not sunny. And that you bring good and warm working-clothes. Also warm indoor-clothes and socks because our house is quite cold. We will also need some help with creative diy-projects and maybe some indoorwork (but mostly outside). We want you to be creative and independent. Also good with kids and like to help with cleaning, dishes, cooking, taking care of animals. Things that we are doing all the time every day even outside the "working hours". You will have a lot of free time as well but you should know that we live as a family in our small house.

We will for this time only host persons over 20 years old. (We prefer 25-30, but if you feel that our place is for you then write to us).

Please also read our profile about food before you send us a message.

We are a family with 3 children. Max and Louise, Isidor (2015), Vilde (2018) and Ask (2020). The kids don’t speak english but we have had workawayers before and they now that you don’t speak swedish. (But we are very happy if you speak some swedish or if you are motivated to learn some words). We also have two cats, Iris and Rosa and some ducks, hens and a rooster in the garden.

We live on the countryside 8 km from Laholm, Halland. We moved here winter 2020 and we have done a lot since then. Our house in quite small but with a big garden where we do a lot of different projects. We grow some vegetables, herbs and flowers. We’re also in the prossess of renovating our house both outside and inside, mainly with traditional nature materials or new ”eco” materials.

Louise’s intrests are gardening, grow organic vegetables, knitting, embroidery and other crafts in organic and natural materials.

Some of Max’s intrests are woodworking and creating things with wood, but also traditional technics and hand tools.

We both really like to crate things!

We mostly eat vegetarian food but sometimes also fish. We try to buy organic and/or local food and we also grow some vegetables and herbs in our garden. We always buy eggs and honey locally and vegetables in season. Our food is basically based on eggs, milk/oatmilk, cheese, butter, vegetables, beans/peas, pasta, rice, bread/flour.

We are using wheat flour for sourdough baking but also for pies and other cookings, we are not able to offer you gluten free food. We are also using a lot of butter, yoghurt and cheese so you needs to be ok with eating diary. We eat a lot of vegetables and choose our ingrediens well, We cook as much as possible by ourselfs and mostly we know where our food comes from. But sometimes we also eat processed food as falafel or vegetarian meatballs.

Important! Alcohol/drugs or smoking is NOT allowed.

Except from get to know a swedish family, hear the swedish language, try some traditional swedish food (vegetarian style), visit some places around like cafés, fleamarkets, being in nature and more. We can also learn together by doing creative projects and we can also teach you how to take care of the harvest of our garden. You can also try to grind flour and make sourdough bread, or you can learn to knit or we can do some other crafts.

  • Help

    Help

We have so many dreams but not enough hands! We are looking for someone who wants to learn how to live a simple life at the swedish countryside. We need help with renovating, fun creative projects, play with the kids (not much babysitting, maybe sometimes holding our youngest son for some minutes), cooking, cleaning, taking care of the plants and the garden, care for the animals (we are planning to get ducks and hens and one more cat). Every day involves outdoor-work in all kind of weathers.

Projects we plan to do in a near future:
    Compost toilet
    Compost for garden
    Outdoor shower
    Renovate future guesthouse
    Make a fireplace
Isolate with clay and other eco-materials
    Painting buildings/door/windows
    Make beds for growing vegtables/flowers
And we would love to get some ideas from you!

    An example of a day;
    8.00 Breakfast
    9.00-11.00 Worktime (could be anything)
    11-12.00 lunchbreak
    12-15.00 worktime
    15.00 Fika
    15.00-18.00 freetime
18.00 Dinner (we prepare for dinner and do the dishes together)
19-21.00 We are doing our night-routines with the kids.
21.00 our kids sleeps (hopefully :D ) and we have time to play games, talk, watch tv or do some crafts/projects. You can always join if you want to.

Most of the time we make 4 meals/day; breakfast, lunch, fika and dinner. If you like to cook you can help with food or you can just look after the kids and help with dishes. We are flexible.

Because our house is very small, we can only host 1 person at the same time this autumn/winter season 2021. Or, If you have a Van/Caravan to stay in during the night that would also work.

If you eat vegan diet or have any allergies then please tell us before you come. We can do some changes in our normal diet but we will not be able to buy lots of extra products for you.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

At the moment we don’t have a guesthouse. So you need to feel comfortable to live with us in the mainhouse. Maybe there will be more than one traveller and then you have to share the space. We will either get you a small room or you can use a part of the livingroom. We also have a tent you can use if you prefer that.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our house is next to some beautiful fields and you can also see (and hear) our neighbours sheep and lambs. If you need a break you can take a walk or borrow a bike and go to our closest village Ysby, there is a small shop and a café. Some days we can go to a lake, the sea or visit Laholm (our closest city). Sometimes we go to bigger cities like Halmstad or Helsingborg. Then you can go with us and explore the cities on your own or with us. We also explore our surroundings a lot, both nature, cafés and fleamarkets. Laholm is an old beautiful city with some small shops (an organic shop!) and fleamarkets.

You can stay at our parkinglot with your campervan. Good to know is that it is quite close to the road and maybe it will disturb you. It’s on the countryside so by night it won’t be a lot of traffic, but during the days it sometimes is.
