We are a family of four (2 girls aged 14 and 15) living in the countryside of Galway, 4 miles from a large town with lots to do. We are in a great position for traveling and discovering the beautiful West Coast of Ireland.
We have 2 horses so have interest in in hosting people who have good experience with horse riding and jumping.
We have two friendly dogs who need walking each day.
Our children are sporty and have sessions most evenings therefore a competent driver with drivers licence would be a big advantage to help us with getting them to and from practice.
As myself and my husband work fairly long hours, we would invite people (female please as we have 2 young girls) who are proactive in helping us with household chores.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Visitors to our home will be treated like members of our family. We live in a very historical parish and region which is also famous for its beauty. There is a lake for fishing 5 mins away. We also enjoy our food and love to eat new dishes. We do our very best to include our workawayers in all the activities we do as a family.
Horsecare, Dogcare, household chores and sometimes some gardening.
Workawayers are very much treated as a member of the family and our children really enjoy these experiences.
We live in a rural area but have lots of lovely neighbours.
We both work in Galway City and our workawayers can benefit from getting lifts with us in and out of the city. We have had great experiences with hosting and have made life long friends with many of our workawayers. Looking forward to meeting you. 😊
2) Please ensure to use at least one of your free days to travel and explore. We like to have some private family time together which is important for us.

What else ...
Our nearest town of Tuam has good bus links to the wonderful city of Galway, Mayo's county town of Castlebar, the picturesque town of Westport on the western sea board, and we are 20 mins drive away from the gateway to Connemara. We live in a small neighbourhood and are fortunate to have lovely friendly neighbours. Visitors to our house need to be independent and have use of bikes to get around. Town is 25 min bike ride. We try to do 1 or 2 nice experiences with our visitors but also it is of benefit to you (and to us ) on your days off to go and explore. Days off sre flexible and my husband or I can give you lifts to Galway during the week.
As we are a busy family, we enjoy our personal time together at the weekends.

From the first moment we met Jennifer and her family we were positive that we will have a great time. We got along very well and talked a lot. In these two and a half weeks we became a part of the family. We helped the girls building their Lego and making their Halloween costumes. We trained their lovely dog Omar. We shared recipes and learned… read more from each other. Also we had to do a lot of tasks which included renewing and maintaining the polytunnel, building a new fence or planting a hedge.

They gave me a lot opportunities to explore… read more their lifestyle, the area and nearby cities and had a lot of ideas what i could do on my days off.
I liked how they included me into the family and their activities but also leave me my space and some time for myself.
I can't describe how happy and thankful i am to meet this family and to had all the possibilities they gave me.

Hello!!! I want to tell you that my experience with the family was very good! This was my first volunteering experience and I have a lot of positive things. Jennifer and Michael opened the doors of their home to me with a lot of trust and love. They gave me everything I needed, they were very patient with the language (I am a language learner),… read more they made me feel at home, they gave me cultural and touristic information, and they gave me a lot of help.
My job was to walk Omar, the family pet. And also to do some chores around the house. Omar is a super loving, friendly and very obedient dog. My walks were very pleasant as I got directions and Roisin made a map for me on the paths to take. The two girls are super friendly and energetic. I met Saissore's horse Luna and was able to attend her jumping practice.
I really have a beautiful memory of my two week stay.
The comfort of the room, the heating of the house, a private bathroom and a space where I could practice yoga some days, all very nice and comfortable.
I highly recommend it!

Fausto and Delia stayed with us for three weeks in June. They fitted straight in to our family environment and the way our days unfolded. They even had some great cultural experiences...the bog, the Irish beach, the pub on a monday night (the only people there), the pub on a friday night (packed to the rafters) followed by the good old irish/italian chipper! We recommend Fausto and Delia for any workaway opportunity and we hope to welcome them again in the future. I only wish I had more time to continue the English lessons!
