Generally, our workawayers help with housework, food prep, animal care, and gardening.
We are a family of four (2 girls aged 12 and 13) living in the countryside of Galway, 4 miles from a large town with lots to do. We are in a great position for traveling and discovering the beautiful West Coast of Ireland. We have lived here for 12 years and have established a polytunnel. We usually save our own turf and wood for heating our house. We have 2 horses so have interest in in hosting people with horse riding or jumping experience. We love our workawayers to interact with our daughters. They are interested in Athletics, art, music and horseriding. If you can teach them your language, that would be great also! We would like our workawayer to interact and play with the children/ do art/play music, chat with them. We, in turn will subject you to our 20 questions mealtimes 😉and involve you in a lot of our activities. We have bikes which you can use to explore the area.

Visitors to our home will be treated like members of our family. We live in a very historical parish and region which is also famous for its beauty. There is a lake for fishing 5 mins away. We also enjoy our food and love to eat new dishes. We do our very best to include our workawayers in all the activities we do as a family.

Dogcare, household chores and some gardening.
As my husband and I have busy schedules we do like to have our own private time together once the children are in bed.
Workawayers are very much treated as a member of the family and our children really enjoy these experiences. They are sporty and musical so there's usually quite a bit of activity going on!
Workawayers must take note that 1) there is a bus service twice a week on our road ( A bicycle is available and we travel through our town of tuam at least twice a day where there is a good bus service to Galway etc.)
2) Please ensure to use at least one of your free days to travel and explore. We like to have some private family time together which is important for everyone.

What else ...
Our nearest town of Tuam has good bus links to the wonderful city of Galway, Mayo's county town of Castlebar, the picturesque town of Westport on the western sea board, and we are 20 mins drive away from the gateway to Connemara. We live in a small neighbourhood and are fortunate to have lovely friendly neighbours. Visitors to our house need to be independent and have use of bikes to get around. Town is 25 min bike ride. We try to do 1 or 2 nice experiences with our visitors but also it is of benefit to you (and to us ) on your days off to go and explore.
As we are a busy family, we enjoy our personal time together at the weekends.
