    Description

Hola! We are Mario and Carolina, a young couple (35 and 29) who lives in a small house in the mountains of Tenerife (Fasnia area) with our two cats, Jazz and Blues.

Mario is a musician, and has travelled around the world for quite some time. He loves learning and teaching languages, jamming with friends, nature, reading, playing games, cooking...

Carol is a speech therapist who works mostly with children with difficulties (authistic, ADHD...) She loves handcrafting, drawing, playing music, going to the beach, doing yoga...

We have travelled throughout Europe with our van and done some workaway as volunteers, so now that we have a home we thought it right to become hosts.

We have a small house on the mountains with some land on it. We live off-grid. Our electric power comes from solar energy, we have a dry toilet and we have some veggies growing to feed ourselves.

We would like to expand the project bringing chickens, growing more trees, making a pond to make everything greener... And we would also like to hear your tips and proposals to make our place more beautiful.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a creative and artistic couple who enjoy sharing our passions and learning from others.

As music lovers, we enjoy playing and creating music together, and we would be thrilled to connect with others who share this passion. We value that you love music. We are also happy to teach you some basic music skills. Mario can teach you some guitar and Carol some percussion, and we could jam together by a bonfire afterwards!

Languages are also an important part of our lives. Carol speak Spanish, English, and a little Greek and French, while Mario speaks Spanish, Greek, German, French, Italian, and English fluently. We’d love to share conversations and practice languages together, creating an enriching exchange for everyone involved. If you want to learn some basic Spanish don't hesitate in ask us!

We are also nature lovers. We love going to the beach or the mountain. We enjoy hiking outside and there are many paths to take around the area. The place is surrounded by gorgeous ravines, and if you enjoy rock climbing there is a superb spot right next to our place. You could also go down to the ocean and do some snorkeling or scuba diving, since there are many diving schools in Tenerife.

WE ADORE FOOD. We can cook together and share recipes. We can teach you how to cook some local dishes. We are vegetarian and vegan friendly (though we eat meat ourselves)

If anything from the above resonates with you, you are in the right place!

  • Help

    Help

Our project is centered around transforming our place into a sustainable, ecological, and self-sufficient space. Over the past two years, we’ve been working to improve the property step by step, but as we are only two people with limited time, we need extra hands to bring our vision to life.

Here are some projects we aim to do:

-Make a pond that serves as a water filter.

-Build a chicken coop. To eat eggs every day and have beautiful feathered friends!

-Repairing stone walls. The way people do it around here is without any concrete. If you know about this you are in the right place!

-Become more self-sustainable regarding the food. We will love to host someone with permaculture skills who show us the the things we still don't know and give us tips on how to grow veggies. Our place is kinda dry, windy and sunny throught the year, so the conditions to grow are not optimal, but we believe with the proper knowledge we can make this place greener!

We welcome both solo travelers and couples.

Tranquility is a cornerstone of our lifestyle, so we particularly appreciate people who value a calm and harmonious environment. Whether or not you share our specific interests, we are happy to welcome anyone with a positive attitude, a willingness to contribute, and an openness to exchanging knowledge and experiences.

We aim to make your experience here as enjoyable and flexible as possible. We ask for 3 hours of help per day, and you are free to choose the project that interests you most.

You’ll also have the freedom to organize your hours throughout the day as you prefer, allowing you to colaborate at your own pace. Additionally, you’ll have two days off per week, giving you plenty of time to explore the area or simply relax.

We are approachable, open to conversation, and flexible. If you ever have concerns or ideas about the help or schedule, we’re happy to discuss and adapt as needed. Our goal is to create a positive and collaborative environment for everyone involved.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We provide ONE room in a cozy and confortable camper van. Couples are welcomed, or people who have no trouble sharing a bed (it's big enough for 2) We have thick blankets for when it gets cold during winter, and pillows.

The toilet is inside the house, so you are allowed to go inside anytime you need to. You can take hot showers. The toilet is a dry one, we will show you how to use it if needed

We will provide one meal per day, at lunch time (between 11:30 and 12:30, normally) If you are vegan or vegetarian let us know in advance, so we can arrange something special for you. You are free to use the kitchen anytime you want, until 10 pm more or less and we will let you a shelf in fridge just for yourself.

There is no WIFI here. There is good reception though. If you need internet for something we can share the data from our cell phones.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The place is in the middle of the mountains with incredible views, however, it is a bit limited regarding the means of transport. There is a new bus service that can bring you from a 20 min walk, down to the highway ,(where you can take a bus to go to Santa Cruz, La laguna or anywhere you wish in the island) or to the closest beach available if you wish (15/20 min bus)

We can also bring you down (Carol works from Tue to Friday and she departs at 2pm) to the highway or you can go with her to Santa Cruz. She will be coming back home by 8 pm.

We could also go on trips together. We love hiking, beaches, concerts...
