We are a new hostel in Praia, capital city of Cape Verde. As there are not many accommodations of this kind around, two friends with the same passion for travel started this project in April 2016 so that backpackers and other travelers could have a suitable accommodation, travel tips and hints while visiting the beautiful Island of Santiago. You will find this hostel to have a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, with a comfortable, home-like but unique identity that offers nice conditions for social meetings and interaction between guests and staff through its common areas.
Cabo Verde is a small island nation with approximately 500.000 inhabitants, consisting of 10 islands and 15 islets. Although official language is Portuguese, the national language is Creole (Kriolu). Travelers will have the unique opportunity to get to know how life goes by in this part of the world! You can learn how to speak kriolu and portuguese, discover Cape Verdean musics and dances, travel among the different islands - each with its uniqueness, taste local gastronomy, while being part of a multicultural team!
We are looking for motivated, open minded, responsible and friendly volunteer with good communications skills to teach basic level french to our staff. You would prepare and conduct 2 classes per week for 2 different teams (for a total of 4 classes per week).
We can host up to 23 guests and 1 volunteer.
Volunteers will live in one of our dorm rooms. You will have access to all facilities like a guest, including everyday's breakfast. You can use our fully equipped kitchen to prepare other meals for yourself along with the hostel staff and guests.
The hostel is very well located in one of the trendiest neighborhoods of the capital city – Achada Santo Antonio, a mere 5 minutes walking from Kebra Canela beach, surronded by coffee shops and restaurants within a very guarded area due to the proximity of several embassies, consulates, banks and ministries.
Cabo Verde has great weather with almost 365 sunny days per year, which is perfect for outdoor and water-related activities. There are many places to explore within the Island, as other islands as well that are really worth visiting. You can take your time off to really experience Cabo Verde on your own way, there are many activities you can run, from music to dance, photography, snorkeling, scuba diving, surf, kite surf, spear fishing, traditional fishing, as well as experiencing beach or mountain camping, seasonal waterfalls, hiking, and many more!
