Description
We are a family of five — parents Marija and Ante, both 39 years old, with three boys aged 8, 6, and 3.
Our sons do not yet speak English very well, so we are especially hoping to host a young woman who is a native English speaker. This would give our children the wonderful opportunity to learn and practice English naturally through daily communication, play, and family life together.
Split is one of the sunniest spots on the Mediterranean, so we like to spend a lot of time outdoors. You do not need any special visa to visit Croatia and join us.
We are a very active family and enjoy being outside as much as possible.
The boys especially love going to nearby Marjan hill, known as the "lungs of Split" because of its fresh pine-forest air — and it's just a 10-minute walk from our apartment.
We are interested in a healthy lifestyle.
With us, you can be an equal member of our young family: feel free to be direct about your thoughts and needs, and readily give us advice and opinions on anything — we are a blame-free family.
It is important that you maintain a high level of responsibility, and I am sure we will make wonderful and memorable time together based on mutual trust and open communication.

Joining our young family means a true cultural immersion in everyday Croatian life in one of the most beautiful spots on the Adriatic. You'll live like a local — not as a tourist — sharing conversations, and adventures with us, which opens the door to authentic experiences you won't find in hotels or hostels.
Through daily interactions, you'll learn about Dalmatian traditions, family values, and the relaxed Mediterranean way of life, enjoying long outdoor evenings on our sea-view balcony, or joining spontaneous walks/hikes on Marjan hill.
You'll pick up bits of Croatian language and customs naturally, while sharing your own culture, stories, and background — it's a real two-way exchange that builds lasting friendships and broadens perspectives for everyone.
Plus, as a native English speaker chatting and playing with our boys, you'll help them grow confident in English — and in return, you'll get insider tips on hidden gems in Split, the best local beaches, markets, festivals, and easy boat trips to stunning islands like Brač (Zlatni Rat), Hvar, or others with crystal-clear waters and charming villages.
We fully respect your privacy, independence, and free time — you're welcome to enjoy Split's vibrant nightlife, go out with friends, or come home late if you like. There's no strict curfew; we just ask for good responsibility and consideration (e.g., being quiet when returning late so as not to wake us, and communicating if plans change). We'll always support your needs as friends and family, treating you like a true member of the family.

Help
We already had a few wonderful Workawayers, and what we're really looking for now is a young woman (a native English speaker) who loves spending time with children and would enjoy sharing daily life, fun, and the responsibilities that come with it.
The main goal is for our sons (aged 8, 6, and 3) to learn and practice English naturally. Since they don't yet speak it very well, we're hoping for someone communicative, outgoing, and chatty who can't wait to talk to the boys, play games, read stories, do activities together, go on little adventures (like walks to Marjan hill or beach time), and just hang out in everyday family moments. This kind of joyful, constant interaction is the best way for them to pick up the language!
Household help is secondary and much lighter: things like general cleaning, simple cooking, and ironing/laundry when needed. We expect 4 hours of total help per day, 5 days a week (very flexible, often combined with kid activities or family outings).
Our responsibility is to support you so you make the most of your time in Croatia — we'll happily join you or help arrange sightseeing, social outings, trips to nearby islands/towns, and encourage you to explore freely on your days off (beaches, hikes, culture — whatever excites you!).
We're seeking someone responsible, positive, energetic, and great with kids who is excited to explore our beautiful city and surroundings while becoming like a big sister to our boys. If you love chatting, playing, and sharing laughs in English, and you're reliable and open-hearted, we'd love to welcome you into our active, outdoor-loving young family!

Accommodation
Our apartment is in an excellent central location on the 6th floor (with elevator) — 90 m², bright and airy, with a stunning sea-view balcony that's perfect for relaxing and enjoying Split's famous sunshine.
The apartment is modern and newly renovated, featuring 4 bedrooms, a small separate toilet, a shared bathroom with shower and bathtub, high-quality facilities, and everything kept spotless and well-organized.
We're just a 5-minute walk from the iconic UNESCO-listed Diocletian's Palace in the heart of Split, super close to shops, restaurants, bars, beaches, and all the main attractions — yet tucked away in a peaceful residential area near the Archaeological Museum (a quiet, green spot only about 10 minutes' walk north of the palace, ideal for escaping the crowds while staying central — check it on Google Maps for the exact vibe!).
As a Workaway helper, you'll have your own private bedroom and the small separate toilet for your exclusive use, plus full access to the shared bathroom (shower + bathtub) and all common living areas (kitchen, living room, balcony). You'll feel right at home as part of our young family!

Our apartment's prime central location means you can reach so many of Split's highlights on foot — the iconic Diocletian's Palace is just a 5-minute walk away, along with bustling markets, beaches, cafes, bars, and the Riva promenade. Most attractions in the old town and nearby areas are easily accessible without any transport, making it super convenient for exploring on your own or with the family.
For longer trips (like to the airport, farther beaches, or nearby towns), Buses or Uber is widely available and reliable in Split — you can request rides 24/7 via the app with upfront pricing, and it's often affordable (short city rides around €4, airport transfers typically €25-30 depending on time/demand). Traditional taxis are also an option, but many travellers prefer Uber for the convenience and transparency. Croatia is part of the EU, so the official currency is the euro (€) — cash is handy for small markets or tips, but cards (including contactless mobile digital apps) are accepted almost everywhere.
Whether you're strolling through the historic streets, hopping on a quick ride for an island day trip, or enjoying the sunny vibe right from our doorstep, you'll find Split incredibly easy and enjoyable to navigate!
