Description
I'm an almost 50 years old idealist, co-founder of our Fundacion, an NGO devoted to foster inclusive and sustainable initiatives around practical participatory ecosystems in different territories (two so far: an urban one near by and a rural one in the Amazon). The place were you'll stay is the rural home I live in with my father, which I've also run as an bnb for the past 4 years. Although in the countryside, with dogs, chickens and a vegetable garden to tend to, the house is located only 35 minutes away from a central spot in Bogota , which is why there's quite an offer of fun activities to enjoy during weekends: hikes, great restaurants, horse rides, ATVs, golf, a hummingbird sanctuary, paragliding and more. It's also an hour away from Chingaza Park, a beautiful natural reserve where you may appreciate the flora and fauna of a unique ecosystem in the world: the Paramo.

Soy una idealista de casi 50 años, co-fundadora de nuestra Fundación, una ONG dedicada a apoyar iniciativas inclusivas e incluyentes en torno a ecosistemas participativos prácticos en diferentes territorios (por ahora uno urbano muy cercano y otro rural en el amazonas). El lugar donde te hospedarás es la casa rural en la que vivo con mi padre y que ha funcionado como airbnb por 4 años. A pesar de estar en el campo, con perros, gallinas, jardines y huerta que atender, la casa está localizada a solo 35 minutos de un lugar central en Bogotá (), razón por la cual tenemos en los alrededores una variada oferta de actividades divertidas para disfrutar durante los fines de semana: montañismo, deliciosos restaurantes, cabalgatas, cuatrimotos, campo de golf, un observatorio de colibries, parapente y mucho más. También estamos situados a una hora del Parque Chingaza, una preciosa reserva natural donde apreciarás la fauna y flora locales de un ecosistema único en el mundo: los páramos.

You'll have the experience of living in a Colombian rural area and also work with urban communities that have come together to work collaboratively in finding solutions for basic human needs and development. You’ll learn about hope and resourcefulness, creativity and solidarity. And hopefully some Spanish ;-)

Help
Because we work strengthening grass root organizations' teams, strategies and activities, each with different aims, the work we need help with is very varied: art and language education, child care, social integration of elders, children and adolescents through free-time activities (singing, dancing and sports), urban gardening, supporting entrepreneurs with design and social media, among other things.
Como trabajamos fortaleciendo los equipos, estrategias y actividades de organizaciones de base comunitarias, cada una con objetivos distintos, el trabajo con el que necesitamos nos ayudes es muy variado: educación artística y en idiomas, cuidado de niños, integración social de ancianos, niños y adolescentes a través de actividades para el uso del tiempo libre (canto, baile y deportes), huertas urbanas, apoyo al emprendimiento por medio de labores de diseño y redes sociales, entre otras cosas.

Accommodation
You'll stay in a shared bedroom for 5 volunteers with 2 complete bathrooms (toilets and showers separate).
The house is about 650 square meters, and also operates as an airbnb with 3 separate lodgings. The common areas for volunteers are: 2 living rooms, access to kitchen and one fridge just for volunteers, orchard and a beautiful garden.
We'll provide breakfast in the main house or ingredients weekly, whatever works best for you. You'll have full access to the kitchen and use the volunteer's fridge and pantry. Kitchen is used by people with different diets so utensils may have been used with animal products.

La casa tiene aproximadamente 650 metros cuadrados y también opera como un airbnb con 3 apartamentos independientes. Las áreas comunes para los voluntarios son: 2 salas, acceso a cocina con nevera exclusiva para voluntarios, huerta y jardines.

You can come from Bogota to the house via bus (around USD $1.5). Buses run from 6:00 am until 9:30 pm. You can also take ubers (between USD $12 and $35, according to your location in Bogota, being the airport the most expensive fare).
Besides all the rural activities and sites we've already mentioned, you can enjoy your free time in the many actvities Bogota´s got to offer.
Puedes venir desde Bogota a la casa por bus (cuesta aprox USD $1.5). La ruta de buses va desde las 6:00 am hasta las 9:30 pm. También puedes tomar Uber (cuesta entre USD $12 y $35, dependiendo de tu ubicación en Bogotá, siendo la tarifa más cara la del aeropuerto). Además de las actividades rurales que ya hemos mencionado, puedes disfrutar de todas las actividades que ofrece Bogota.
