UPDATE 10th SEP 2020z
Due to radical growth of new COVID-19 in Denmark we require that our workawayers will be able to bring a Maximum 3 day Old NEGATIVE test.
Sorry for the inconvinience, we first strike had a massive Impact on our life - so we really want to take the meassurse we can to avoid further spreading.
Our Family of four consist of our 9 year old son Villads and his 12 year old sister Vanilla, Christina and Lars (parents in early 40ies). 3 horses, 3 cats and a dog is the furry part of our family. We live on a small farm just a few minutes from Billund, which is the birthplace of LEGO.
When we moved here 4 years ago it was a closed farm with 6 Hectars potato fields, empty pig stables and an unapealing barn full of sh... After hard work, multible litres of sweat, aching backs and bleeding blisters, our home is now a cosy farm with lovely horse paddocks surrounded by biodiversity. The buildings are converted into a ridning arena, and really nice facilities when having many guests, which we enjoy.
Living on a place like this means there is always plenty to do inside and out. Gardening, painting, fixing, digging, cutting, planting, building etc etc is just a few of the things we would ask you to help with here - al adjusted to the wonderful danish weather.
Our kids go to School in Billund while we do our daily routines, as we are both self imployed.
We welcome single or couple travellers, but should you be a family with kids you are also very welcome. There is plenty to see around Billund and our kids love to play with others.
We require that our workawyers speak good english in order to improve our kids English skills. Also we consider it essential that communication is good so all will benifit the most.
We prefer that our Workawayers are prepared to move on after max 3-4 weeks, so someone else can move in and there will be a constant flow of new people. However - you are welcome to check into our bnb before or after your stay here.
Please accept that we ask to verify who you are by taking a picture of your passport on arrival. Also that we check your international drivers licence before you borrow a car. Thanks for understanding.
Working Holiday Visa.
For workawayers, who are planing to obtain a "working holiday visa" in Denmark. Please do not expect that we can let you register our home as your address during the application period.
DIY and building projects
Creating/ Cooking family meals
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Being part of our family will show you how we live as active entrepreneurs managing several businesses, while care for each other.
We invite you to share our meals and hope you will also cook your local dishes for us.
Danish people were ranked as the happiest people in the world for many years. We look forward to show you why:-)
We understand and accept if you only stay a few days before moving on. And we prefer your stay will be max 2-3 weeks. We do not offer long term stays. However - if you want to stay longer than the 2-3 weeks we may offer you, you can choose to check into our hostel/bnb. It is most likely the cheapest accomodation your will find as we focus on backpackers and sharing certain facilities.
There is always a lot to do when living on a farm.
Cutting grass - removing weeds - chopping firewood - washing windows - driving the kids to activities - fixing paddocks - painting buildings - feeding horses - Walking the dog etc etc etc. Are you good at cooking we certainly also will ask you to assist with that.
Dont worry , we will keep you busy for a few ours every day, but we are not just looking for cheap Labour.
English is essential!
We have plenty of newly made guest rooms, for either single, couple or family stay. An option from spring time is also to stay in our cosy pod next to the paddocks. There is also a lovely hangout lounge with pool table, dart, and cinema screed where you can relax. There is only one bathroom in that building, so please expect to share this with other work-awayers or our guests. Small kitchenette for coffee and tea in same building, while real kitchen is in our main family house.
We take turns to prepare the dinner and hope you will join at least 2 times per week.
We are flexible regarding working time. For us it is important that you will also be able to see our country and if we have time we also enjoy to join as tourguides.
We will assist with driving to town/bus if you want to go somewhere. Or you can borrow a bike and do the 6 km like that.
If we have two workawayers of same gender - you will need to share a room.
BLL airport is just few mins away, and we are happy to pick you up. Legoland and Lego House is a must (in season), but there are also several other nice places to see close by. We have a few cars you may borrow if vacant and as long as you cover the fuel + clean then inside and outside.
