    Description

Hello 👋 Welcome to my country India 🇮🇳

I'm Saumya, an author, entrepreneur and the founder of a non-profit supporting women small business owners.

Together with my sister, we recently started the one and only Studio for Women Entrepreneurship in Delhi. We envisioned a space for women to dream big and not burn out doing these big things!

Located centrally, our studio in New Delhi is a community hub for collaborations, workshops and meet-ups. We also work closely with schools, cultural centres and embassies.

Early on in my childhood, I realized that words were my catnip. Drawn to literature and the creative arts, I started Delhi Poetry Slam in my first year of college. I didn't expect that it would soon spiral into a massive movement of youth expressing themselves through the art of poetry. India is a society where decisions are made by parents and teachers. Young adults have little agency in the career they want or the person they marry. Add to this a society which is discriminatory with women and lower castes. There's a whole to talk about! So when Delhi Poetry Slam started growing like rapid fire, I had to quickly pivot from being an art organizer to learning the business side of it- hosting festivals, working with schools and colleges and publishing books. I've now been running the organization for over ten years successfully.

My new project studio is a reflection of how I fit into the shoes of becoming a woman entrepreneur, making a difference- and now I want to help women make an impact in their communities.

I became the youngest person from India to win the Gulen Institute Youth Platform Award, wherein I was invited to the Washington D.C, United States of America to deliver a presentation and interact with congressmen.

Why Delhi? Delhi is rich in history and always been an epicentre of art since thousands of years. The streets are filled with colors, smells and sounds. The usual hustle-bustle and chaos, but if you look closely, you will see the harmony and order in everything.

We'd love to see how you can contribute to this growing project.

    Help

We're looking for volunteers to be part of our entrepreneurial community. You can help us in fundraising, organizing events, photography, film, graphic design, social media and drawing murals on the walls.

Preference is given to volunteers who can stay longer- anywhere between 2 weeks to a few months. We feel that in order to develop value-driven programs and create human connections, it takes time. If you prefer slow travel while contributing to the growth of a vibrant project, the studio is your place to be.
