  • Description

We are a farm, a restaurant and a home-stay that offers guests the unique opportunity to experience life on our farm. Our aim is to have our guests transported away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the calm and slow pace of village life, with all the excitement and complexity that only a farm can offer!

    The Space & Your Hosts:

The Farm was started in 1974 by Aruls’ parents, primarily as a Dairy Farm. Over the years, a piece of land that was bought with only Palmyra trees standing on it has been lovingly converted into an oasis of green with fields & plantations, gardens & temples and an abundance of animals & birds.

In 2009, Arul opened the doors to his restaurant. The aim with the hospitality angle is two-fold; to earn an alternative income from the space and to have many people come in and enjoy the space.

Today, we, Arul & Shalini, run the Restaurant as well as our Bed & Breakfast. We live here on the property and enjoy having guests in our home.

Aruls’ parents who are an integral part of the farm and its’ functioning also live on the property and you are likely to bump into them – in the gardens, at the Dairy, riding the Horses or if you’re lucky, free to chat about all the happenings around The Farm.

And then there are all the farm labourers as well as our restaurant / room staff, all of whom are at hand to ensure that you have a comfortable and happy experience with us. The staff include the milkmen, the agriculturists (for vegetables & other crops), the Grooms, the kitchen & service staff and finally the local village ladies who take care of all the back-end work of sweeping, washing and housekeeping and who always seem to have time to expand our gardening endeavours.

    Around The Farm:

    The Restaurant

The Restaurant is the fulcrum of the hospitality side of The Farm. Built within an existing coconut grove and made from materials mostly from the farm, the restaurant boasts of being cool and comfortable even in the peak of summer! Our tables are made of hand-pitted granite slabs and our chairs are made in-house with re-claimed wood from around the farm.

Our menu is eclectic and we are constantly adding and changing things around on this front. The only constant is our wood-fired Pizza made in our own unique fashion. The pizza as well as a number of other dishes comes from our four beautiful wood-fired ovens; we bake bread, grill meats, roast vegetables & so much more all in these ovens and with wood from the farm, of course! FYI, all the ash from these ovens gets put to good use – it makes for extremely effective and completely organic pesticide!

The restaurant is open from 07:30 to 19:00 - we welcome guests for Breakfast, Lunch and Tea.

    Bed & Breakfast

Our Bed & Breakfast currently has 12 colourful and cosy rooms. A private garden area between the rooms is a great spot to spend some quiet time reading a book, or to just enjoy the outdoors. Some of our rooms have a little veranda while others have an ante room which could serve as a study or as a walk in closet. While all our rooms have interesting farm views from the windows, we have also tried to bring a little piece of the farm into each room – we have a little story painted on each of the walls that depicts life around us. We have chosen not to have a television in our rooms – there’s a lot happening around The Farm if you would like to keep yourself occupied!

We offer Dinner exclusively for our room guests. We are currently working on creating various little spaces around the property where our guests can enjoy the evenings under the trees.

We have 8 additional rooms being renovated, so in a few months from now, we will have 20 rooms as a part of our Bed & Breakfast.

We are also currently working on some alternative accommodation facilities like a Camping tents which would be a really fun experience for Adults & kids both!

  • Help

There is always a lot happening on the farm. We grow organic vegetables and fruits, we have the restaurant and its' functions and we also have the rooms to look after and maintain.

It would be great to have some young, innovative and enthusiastic people who can come in with some new ideas of how to run the space and bring in interesting dimensions to the space, thereby making it interesting for everyone who visits us.

Our projects are varied, and will depend on the interest and skills of the people working with us.

Almost all projects / obs on the farm will involve a high level of interaction with local people.

On the farm front, language might be an issue, but this can be worked aorund.

The restaurant and B&B will involve interaction with guests, organising walks around the farm, engaging children in farm activites, and also enhancing the entire space for guests to enjoy.
