    Hi there!

We're Jack (28), Robyn (29) and Benji (2) + another little one (due April). We're from the UK but have been living in Switzerland for just over five years and love it here. We spent a lot of our first years travelling around and seeing everything this beautiful country has to offer and also going further afield into the neighbouring countries of Italy, Austria, Germany, France and Liechtenstein.

However, with one young child and another on the way, our life has changed somewhat and we're not able to travel as much. We love meeting new people and have now been hosting Workawayers for the past two years and it has been an amazing experience! Workawayers have been such a special part of our family and we've only had positive experiences with them. We especially love it when Workawayers are able to have their own adventures and experience this country for themselves and we can provide a base for them to return to and hear all about what they got up to.

We have quite a lot of tips and ideas for good things to do and see so are always happy to talk through your plans and often go out of our way to help Workawayers on their trips. We often do stuff on the weekends too, but can't guarantee it's always exciting. Nonetheless you'll be a part of our family and are generally welcome to anything we do.

In short: If you know you can be useful around the house, like spending time with young kids, are interested in seeing Switzerland and having your own adventures here and are happy to get stuck in with a slightly chaotic but loving family, send us a message and we'd love to see if we can host you!

    Love, Jack, Robyn and Benji!

We hope that first and foremost you will find somewhere where you feel safe and loved by warm and open people who genuinely want the best for you! We have our down moments and sometimes life feels stressful, but we want to share our life with you and share in your life for as much as you’re willing to let us!

We both love being social and having friends around for food as well as sometimes being really lazy and the odd trashy TV show. We also love exploring ourdoors, seeing new places, getting into really cold water as well as trying out every single thermal spa in the country (mostly Jack!). We would love to hear about your life and give you space to just be yourself when you stay with us.

Robyn is also a vocal coach in her spare time and can help you sing like an angel if you’ve always wanted to. She’s also great at being arty and with calligraphy and lettering, too if you want to learn that. Jack is great at cooking Indian food if that’s something you’ve wanted to learn. We also both speak German and Jack can teach you a fair bit of Swiss German if you're interested! (He also speaks some Spanish and French if that's of any interest to anyone). We’re both pretty musical and love the odd jam session. We probably have other talents too, but we didn’t know if burping the alphabet was worth writing down or not.

Primarily you are there to help us with looking after our two kids. This means things like playing with them, preparing food for them, changing nappies and taking them to the park etc. We hope you can form a good relationship with them and have lots of fun. (We can guarantee that Benji is lots of fun- pretty sure the next kid will be too! haha)

There is also a rolling list of tasks to do each day which are just chores around the house, like cleaning the bathroom on one day, emptying the dishwasher most days and vacuuming parts of the house etc. This is all organised through an app so you can see what there is to do each day.

Cooking and clearing away after meals is something we all share between us and isn't necessarily part of your Workaway hours. However, on really busy weeks we may ask you to take over some more cooking to help us out and in this case, it will be a part of your hours. Keeping your own spaces tidy are not part of your helping hours for us and is something that is expected anyways.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Our flat is reasonably large (by Swiss standards, at least) and gets a lot of light. It’s not in the most picturesque of all areas but it’s a nice area with lots of families (ie. don’t imagine a Swiss chalet in the mountains). You would get your own room and a bathroom (the bathroom you would just occasionally need to share). We only moved into this flat in December 2022 so we’re still making it a home! We have a lot of amenities close by with big shops and restaurants and bars and anything you could need really!

Zug is really great with lots of international people and has a great lake and mountains around with lots of nature and forest to explore. Jack loves going for a cold dip in the lake at all times of the year. We live very close to lots of the major cities and around a 10-15 minute walk (or a 5 minute bus ride) from the train station in Zug. In around 30 minutes you can be in Zurich or Lucerne. Zug is not cheap by any means, but we’ll make sure you’re well fed and will be more than happy to take you out for a drink or coffee every now and again! But there are also lots of great sports centres and swimming pools which are reasonable plus endless nature. The alps are also not too far and if we have time, we would always love to show you places over the weekend and take you out into the mountains somewhere!

You will always be able to eat with us at home but during the week. If we go out we would also be happy to treat you too. You can tell us any of your dietary requirements or just things you like to eat and we will make sure to have the right things in for you.

    What else ...

As stated before. We'd figure out a weekday schedule that works for both parties, then the weekends (+ some afternoons and evenings) would be free for you to do as you wanted! We have a lake very near by as well as great hiking opportunities. We're right on the edge of the alps so winter sports are pretty easily accessible. Zurich and Luzern are less than 30 minutes away on the train and Milan is just a couple of hours on the train too!
