    Description

Hi, we are a retired English couple, living in Dordogne. My husband is a musician and I was a primary school teacher. We swapped our busy city life for a rural, more peaceful way of life here. We live in a beautiful 300 year old property, with loads of history. It is part of the Pilgrims Way, which goes all the way to Spain. It has been a safe place for refugees from both world wars, and recently a safe haven for a Ukranian family!
We are a very adventurous couple, travelling round South America, where we did a house swap! Exploring Mexico and Cuba by bus, and SE Asia using a variety of public transport! And of course travelling around Europe.
We love meeting new people and dipping into different cultures, especially trying different foods.
The property is very large, with outbuildings as well as small cottages. It has a beautiful courtyard and large gardens with an orchard. It over looks rolling landscapes.

We are English, and speak some French. We can help you experience some of the French way of life. There are many beautiful places to discover in this region, with historical towns such as Angouleme, Brantome the Venice of Dordogne and Aubeterre, with its monolithic church. We have a bustling market on Fridays in Riberac. there also many vide greniers, a big one is in our local village of Verteillac
There are outdoor activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, cycling and walking (we can provide bikes) and archery!
In the summer months, there are many outdoor food fetes, music nights, and night markets. And fireworks!
    It will be fun!

We are looking for anyone who is not afraid of physical work, who is enthusiastic and enjoys working outdoors, learning new skills and enjoys the challenges of working on old properties.
Our projects for now are repairing a barn roof. Creating a walled garden, some soft landscaping and eradicating brambles. Some DIY and painting around the property.
It would be a good idea to bring suitable work clothes with you ,such as boots and gloves
