Description
Hey :) My name is Simon, and I come home a farming family in the countryside of Kilkenny, Ireland. On our farm we have a dairy cow enterprise spread over a large grassland farm, alongside three dogs, 4 chickens, 2 donkeys and much more!
We are looking for someone with a good work ethic to come and transform our landscape by planting native irish trees and hedgerows for pasture boundaries to help our local wildlife.
Winter time in Ireland is the most optimal time of they year to plant, and with a recent interest in planting, I reckon there is 2-3 weeks worth of work. So, Someone with a love for outdoors, and willing to get stuck in is much needed! Also if you like there is an Opportunity to milk cows if you have an interest.
Separate to all of this we offer a paid position to someone willing to help us on our busy dairy farm in the spring. We milk 200 cows and duties would include milking cows and feeding calves, and general animal husbandry skills. Someone with a keen interest will be considered for this role, and we would love if you did have other experience in this sector, to share your knowledge and expertise with us! Other duties would include pasture management and livestock feeding.
All work will be paid work. Wages will be basic Irish wage which is approx 13.50 euros an hour. We have a large farmhouse in which you will be staying and are about 20 mins from the city. There is some lovely nature around, with plenty of walks and hikes and adventures. We offer home cooked meals and opportunity for you to share your culinary skills with us, if you like. *unfortunately we can not cater for nut allergies or vegan diets at this moment in time. However, kitchen is available with a well stocked pantry for your use.Types of help and learning opportunities
