  Description

  We are a theater company that lives and works in a castle. It is a cultural and artistic center supported by the Maison-Théâtre de Machy, a non lucrative association. We create our shows there and host residencies from other companies. We offer training and we organize events such as summer evenings at the end of June.
  We are a team of seven people living permanently on site, a multidisciplinary and intergenerational team (aged between 28 and 75). We have a family-style community life, not a collective one. You are entering a family-like environment with its advantages and disadvantages.

  Nous sommes une compagnie de théâtre qui habite et travaille dans un château. C'est un centre culturel et artistique porté par l'association non lucrative la Maison-Théâtre de Machy. Nous y créons nos spectacles et accueillons des résidences d'autres compagnies. Nous proposons des formations et nous organisons des événements comme les soirées d'été à la fin du mois de juin.
  Nous sommes une équipe de 7 personnes à habiter en permanence le site, une équipe pluridisciplinaire et intergénérationnelle (entre 28 et 75 ans). Nous avons une vie communautaire de type familiale, non pas de type collectif. Vous entrez dans une vie de famille avec ses avantages et ses inconvénients.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  You will immerse yourself in the life of a theater troupe, in its daily life. You will meet artists from various backgrounds while living in a place rich in history, a French heritage with buildings from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
  We are in a region rich in activity thanks to the proximity of the place. There are many beautiful places to visit nearby. You will be able to taste French culture, we take care to cook everything we eat, with very French habits. We are at the gates of Lyon and Beaujolais.
  We're close to Lyon, yet far enough away that it's difficult to go out in the city just for the evening. It's always a bit of an expedition, despite the frequent public transport.

  Vous plongerez dans la vie d'une troupe de théâtre, dans son quotidien. Vous rencontrerez des artistes de divers horizons en habitant un lieu riche en histoire, un patrimoine français avec des bâtiments du XVIè au XIXè siècles.
  Nous sommes dans une région riche en activité grâce à la proximité de lieu. Il y a de très beaux lieux à visiter dans les alentours. Vous pourrez goûter à la culture française, nous prenons soin de cuisiner tout ce que nous mangeons, avec des habitudes très françaises. Nous sommes aux portes de Lyon et du Beaujolais.
  Nous sommes à la fois prêt de Lyon et suffisamment loin pour qu'il soit difficile de sortir juste pour la soirée en ville. C'est toujours une petite expédition malgré la fréquence des transports en commun.

  Help

  We need help to take care of the place. We invite you to participate in the maintenance work of the park, the flowers and the organic garden, for the maintenance of the castle (small paint jobs, woodworking...), but also in the life of the house. This cultural place continues to exist thanks to the help of volunteer friends.
  You will often be working alone, but also frequently with members of the team. Generally, we can accommodate you during periods when there are fewer theatrical activities; these are the times when we have time to take care of the venue.

  Nous avons besoin d'aide pour s'occuper du lieu. Nous vous proposons de participer aux travaux d'entretiens du parc, des fleurs et du potager en permaculture, pour la rénovation du château (petits travaux de peinture, menuiserie...), mais aussi à la vie de la maison. Ce lieu culturel continue d'exister grâce à l'aide d'amis bénévoles.
  Vous êtes amené à travailler seul souvent, mais souvent aussi avec des membres de l'équipe. En général, nous pouvons accueillir dans les périodes où il y a moins d'activités théâtrales, ce sont les moment où nous avons du temps pour prendre soin de ce lieu.

  Accommodation

  You will stay in a room with a private bathroom in the residential wing.
  You will share the kitchen of the residential wing for breakfasts and part of the dinners with the artists in residence.
  We share lunches all together.
  In summer, it is possible to sleep in a tent on the campsite, equipped with dedicated sanitary facilities.
  We can accommodate converted vehicles.

  Vous logerez dans une chambre de l'hôtellerie avec une salle de bains privée.
  Vous partagerez la cuisine de l'hôtellerie pour les petits-déjeuners et une partie des dîners avec les artistes en résidence.
  Nous partageons les déjeuners tous ensemble.
  À la belle saison, il est possible de dormir sous tente sur le camping, équipé de sanitaires dédiés.
  Nous pouvons accueillir les véhicules aménagés.

  What else ...

  We are close to Lyon and all its activity. Buses pass at the foot of the castle, the 21 and the 61 to Vaise station. The station of Saint Germain aux monts d'or is 7min by car and 20min by bike, from where we are 15min by train from Part-Dieu.
  There are magnificent historical sites in the region: the Beaujolais villages of golden stones at 10km (Charnay, Oingt, Chatillon d'Azergues, Theizé...), the convent of La Tourette by Le Corbusier at 15km, Lyon at 15km , Villefranche sur Saône at 15km, Perouges at 35km, the castle of Fléchères at 20km...
  From the castle, walks in the Monts d'Or are very pleasant.

  Nous sommes proches de Lyon et de toute son activité. Des bus passent au pied du château, le 21 et le 61 jusqu'à la gare de Vaise. La gare de Saint Germain aux monts d'or est à 7min en voiture et 20min à vélo, d'où l'on est à 15min de train de Part-Dieu.
  Il y a des sites historiques magnifiques dans la région: les villages du Beaujolais des pierres dorées à 10km (Charnay, Oingt, Chatillon d'Azergues, Theizé...), le couvent de la Tourette de Le Corbusier à 15km, Lyon à 15km, Villefranche sur Saône à 15km, Perouges à 35km, le château de Fléchères à 20km...
  Depuis le château, les promenades à pied dans les monts d'or sont très agréables.
