    Description

We are a couple living on a small acreage farm in the nook of the beautiful Kluane Mountain Range. We have 7 horses, 3 mini ponies, 3 dairy cows, a dog, chickens and bunnies. We run equine therapy programs out of the farm for the local Indigenous families and groups. We come from a heart centered approach and work with the horses from a relational based perspective. We are fortunate to have many ceremonies held with our programs that honor the land and the people. We have a huge garden and green house, hot tub, and wood fired sauna. We have two beautiful fire pits that are perfect for enjoying the evenings basking in the sun and mountains. There are skiing or walking trails right out the back yard. We are five minutes away from the main town of Haines Junction. As a work-away you would get your own off grid cabin. Must be comfortable and have some experience with horses and be willing to milk with a milk machine.

We do not sell any produce or products from the farm. The workaway would not be involved in any business activities or business related activities at all. My private business is completely separate from the farm.

We are closely connected with the Haines Junction community and would include you in the events and activities we are involved in. THe Kluane Mountain Range is only moments away with one of canada's beautiful national parks at our doorstep. 10 of the tallest mountains in Canada are right outside.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for help with the horses, this includes picking up manure, feeding, grooming and if you have experience, ground work and riding. Milking our dairy cow on a daily basis. Feeding the chickens and bunnies, and collecting eggs is also helpful. We have a large garden that needs love in the spring, summer and fall. Also help with cooking meals and general help around the house. We are a water delivery system so we would also want help with picking up the water. We will be gone for a few weeks at a time in the summer so there will be times when the farm is the sole responsibility of the helper. We do have a person that works on the farm that can help.

You would get you own 12 x 16 cabin with wood stove, small fridge and two burner cooker. It would have an extension cord for electricity. There is a queen size bed and views of the mountains. There is an outhouse right beside it. You have access to the house for showers, baking and hanging out. it is only a two minute walk to the main house yet very private. You will also have access to the hot tub and sauna.

There is so much beauty to discover in this area. Including the amazing sheep mountain, Kathleen Lake, Kluane Lake, Cotton wood trail, Kings Throne, Paint mountain. There are many hikes, amazing fishing, rockclimbing and exploring. In the summer our local bakery has live music every week and the Champagne and Aishihik First Nation dance gathering is happening this week. As we are closely connected with the First Nation there is also opportunity to attend local events.

We are both very relaxed and live life in state of grounded presence. We enjoy connecting with people and working on the land. I love my horses, music and growing food. Dave is a professional builder and has much experience in this area. We have a workshop to build and create and he can help teach skills in this area.

I am happy to share what I know about relational horsemanship. I am also a trauma therapist specializing in developmental trauma and work with the horses to support other people to heal.
