  • Description

I am a Guatemalan native and serial entrepreneur that is currently working with a small team to develop a multidisciplinary art/land project. We are building a sustainable intentional community for creative people in the hills overlooking the Spanish colonial town of Antigua, Guatemala and its three surrounding volcanos.

*️️️️️️️️️️️️*️️️️️️️️️️️️Currently seeking: someone long term (3 months +) with firm knowledge in manufacturing artisanal cosmetic products ( cosmetics/soap production). This project includes translating/mentoring cosmetics/soap production with youtube tutorials, planting/harvesting herbs, and other raw materials (honey, flowers, herbs and spices).*️️️️️️️️️️️️*️️️️️️️️️️️️
Or someone that has deep knowledge of Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey" concept to create artistic/inspirational resting spots throughout the property/"transformation trail".
About me: I am a photographer, pilot, diver, adventurer and business developer. I live with my girlfriend (UK), two dogs and two cats (all outdoor pets except girlfriend...she is the queen in our castle). Our home overlooks the city of Antigua, offering fantastic views in every direction.
I am an outdoorsy/active, creative and fairly social person, who loves to do road trips and travel.

We are located a short distance from downtown Antigua Guatemala; known for its Spanish schools, rich history and architecture, and fun night life, Antigua is a hub for traveling in and around Guatemala and Central America. I am a native Guatemalan and serial entrepreneur with multiple established businesses and several startups in process. I can help volunteers practice their Spanish, or orient them in starting a business or networking/sourcing with local businesses. I speak Spanish, English, and some French. If anyone has a specific interest they wish to explore here, I can help sorting out meetings and visits, as well as acting as interpreter. Practicing Spanish should not be a problem since interaction with other "Spanish only" workers is necessary.

At this time, I am looking to do several things: 1. create sculptures that inspire the observer 2. teach staff to think creatively and critically 3. create a educational workshop on how to make soap and cosmetics with lavender and other herbs. There are several ways to do this and am very open to suggestions, so please feel free to send me a proposal in your message!

  • Accommodation

This is a private studio(1 bedroom) tiny house in the outskirts of Antigua, with a great view of the stunning volcanos that guard the city. It is located on a quiet and safe village and comes with wifi, hot water, washer and dryer and a basic galley kitchen. There is cleaning service one time per week. You will have a private bedroom and bathroom and will be living on sight 10 minutes away from my house. Transportation to the different work areas will be provided. To get an idea, pictured in the host profile is the available lodging at the worksite, but it will depend on availability.

As I said before, Antigua is the hub for travelers visiting Guatemala and Central America, so there are numerous activities and places to visit; Mayan ruins, cloud forests, active volcanos, remote Indian villages, local cooking lessons, weaving lessons, mountain biking, white water rafting, golf, hiking, surfing...etc...You can check the Lonely Planet website or multiple fb pages about Antigua Guatemala.
