    Description

Our family lives on the island of Amorgos, one of the most beautiful islands in the south east Cyclades. We have been living here for the last 25 years and we take care of the orchard of our great grand father, which is situated in KATAPOLA, the main port of Amorgos.

We are located 70 meters away from the sea, near the port of Katapola. Our land is an organic farm that you can call home while you are here - where you can connect with us, our animals, the organic way of growing food and to learn behind the scenes of local island living. We also have a nursery for herbs, trees, flowers etc. As well as a fruit tree orchard and vegetable garden. We are also involved in helping animals - especially horses and donkeys, of the local animal shelter.

It will be useful for you to bring: 1) a hat for your time outdoors 2) some warm clothes in case the evenings become chilly 3) your personal toiletries 4) a sleeping bag in case you are sensitive to cold (nice to have but not essential)

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our volunteers will have the chance to experience life on a remote Greek island, while at the same time, they will be learning all sorts of things concerning organic farming, including tasting the very same products of their own efforts. Our farm is a lively place, and during the summer months a lot of people are coming and going, making this the ideal place to make new acquaintances.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

On your off days there is plenty to do around the island and buses running from Katapola to the central town of Hora from where you can travel north or south of Amorgos. AMORGOS is situated in the south eastern Cyclades and it is world famous for its hiking trails, its crystal clear waters and its diving opportunities. Due to the fact it is less accessible than other islands ( there are two ports but no airport), most of its nature remains unspoiled. During the summer months there is adequate bus transportation as well as car rentals to move around. Our village, KATAPOLA, is right in the middle of the island, making it easier to see the most significant places.
