Description
We are a busy dynamic family with two wonderful and interesting sons aged 16 and 14. Brook (Mom) works in the local community's Health Centre as the Nurse-in-charge. Dustin (Dad) runs a restaurant and a tourism business.
WINTER 2024/25 : Our current main project is constructing a 30 person staff housing complex for our village our of recycled buildings and materials. Being environmentally friendly informs how we build as we try to reduce new materials whenever possible. On they project you can learn how to build decks, install windows and doors, build roofs etc. etc.
Carcross Yukon is situated in pristine wilderness to explore right out our door. We have a large variety of outdoor equipment that will allow you to take advantage of of this opportunity and have your own adventure.
SPRING AND SUMMER 2024/25: Given that we also have accommodation on our property for our restaurant staff there is lots of opportunity to meet other people out looking for a Yukon adventure too. Often many friendships are formed and adventures had each summer.
The Yukon is a great place to see northern lights, enjoy the mountain scenery and solitude of Canada's north.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
Our main project currently is constructing a staff housing complex for tourism businesses in Carcross primarily out of used building materials and recycling of entire buildings. We are looking for helpers for this winter that already have some basic carpentry skills and would consider themself handy. You don't need to be a professional but we would prefer helpers who have a grasp of basic skills and we can practice those and learn some new ones as well.

Extras: Access to bikes, canoes, kayaks etc in the summer and there are many beautiful trails in the area close to our property. Snowshoes in the winter. If you love world class nature then Carcross, Yukon, just 45 minutes from Whitehorse is a great place to spend some time. In winter we have lovely skis trails and access to snowshoes you can borrow etc. If you have cross country skis you might want to bring them with you. We have extra skis but boots are a challenge since feet come in som many sizes!
