Description
Maybe there is somebody who is traveling in Norway already?
Hello! We are a patchwork family living in the beautiful countryside of Vikedal, Norway.
Recently we bought a wonderful house surrounded by wild forest and nature. The house has a traditional grass roof and a large outdoor area. It is a fantastic place, but after buying it we realized that the garden and outdoor areas will need quite a bit of love and care this spring – so we would love some help bringing it back to life.
Our family consists of me (36) and my partner (39). He has two children, and my two children (10 and 7 years old) live with us 50% of the time. We also share our home with a friendly dog and a cat.
Tasks with us may include helping with gardening, some house tasks, spending time with the kids, occasionally cooking, and maybe taking the dog for a walk. Life here is quite relaxed and nature is all around us, so it’s a great place if you enjoy the outdoors.
I have previous experience hosting through Workaway, although that was before we moved into this house. My partner is new to Workaway, but very positive about the experience.
We speak Norwegian at home. My 10-year-old daughter and I also speak German, and all of us speak good English. There I would of course like more support from a workawayer so that our children get even more German input :)
I work as a school assistant, and my partner is a trained teacher (English and music) and currently works as a department leader at a secondary school. He also plays in a band.
We hope to create a warm, welcoming environment where we can share everyday life, meals, conversations, and experiences.
If you enjoy nature, family life, and helping with outdoor projects, you might feel right at home here with us.
I'm open to all questions, just contact us :)
We prefer a German-speaking person because of our children.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Because of the fact that I'm German and my Norwegian partner I can always see and explain both sides well. We have a museum with us which offers a lot of exchange and events.

Accommodation
The accommodation is a private room located through the garage area of the house. From the room you also have direct access to a terrace where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
There is a toilet located nearby that you can easily use. For showers and the main bathroom facilities, we share the main bathroom in the house with the family.
What else ...
We live on the west coast of Norway, surrounded by Fjell og fjord:-) Beautiful leisure activities such as hiking, fishing, boating are here very possible.
The nearest town Haugesund is an hour away (good bus connections) and Stavanger can be reached from here fastest boat in about 2-2 1/2 hours.

So much time I've spent at this wonderful place with a wonderful family. From the first day on they let me feel like I'm a part of the family. Ina and Jostein are very friendly and fair with work and freetime. Most of my jobs were inside with the children or household. But I did some paintwork or… read more

but, this place is amazing! Ina is caring, friendly, funny and always good for a nice talk. Jostein is a kind, calm and hard working father. They are both very warm-hearted and kind hosts, trying to make my stay in November as good as possible. The work was not too hard, the room was cosy, particularly when you get woken by a sheep standing in front of your window making mähh. And the food was… read more
