Description
The finca is located in the northeast of the island of La Palma in the municipality of Puntallana.
We - that´s Michael (57) and Maria (34), our baby Sasha and our five cats - have the vision to develop a place that is intended for community experiences.
The 1 ha property includes a so-called Barranco, which can be reached by a footpath of about 5 minutes. The barranco gets its basic structure from an already existing terracing, a water collection cave and an initial tree population (avocado, mango, papaya, khaki, figs, pomegranate, cherimoya, lemon). The wind-protected location in the barranco together with a relative abundance of rainfall and the mild desert climate allow the cultivation of a variety of mainly subtropical fruit varieties.

Unsere Finca befindet sich im Nordosten der Insel La Palma in der Gemeinde Puntallana.
Wir - das sind Michael (56) und Maria (33), unser Baby Sasha und unsere fünf Katzen - haben die Vision, einen Ort zu schaffen, der Gemeinschaftserlebnissen dienen soll.
Zum 1 ha großen Grundstück gehört ein so genannter Barranco, der über einen Fußweg von ca. 5 Minuten erreichbar ist. Der Barranco erhält seine Grundstruktur durch eine bereits vorhandene Terrassierung und einen anfänglichen Baumbestand (Avocado, Mango, Papaya, Khaki, Feige, Granatapfel, Cherimoya, Zitrone ). Die windgeschützte Lage im Barranco, die vergleichsweise reichhaltigen Regenfälle sowie das milde Wüstenklima ermöglichen den Anbau einer Vielzahl von vor allem subtropischen Obstsorten.

We can practise Spanish together and you can of course try out your Spanish in contact with the locals - for example at the market on Saturdays.
You can gain an insight into everyday family life with a small child and learn lots of things about childcare.
Wir können gerne zusammen spanisch üben, und du kannst dein Spanisch natürlich im Kontakt mit Einheimischen erproben - zum Beispiel samstags auf dem Markt.
Du kannst bei uns einen Einblick in den Familienalltag mit Kleinkind bekommen und viele Dinge rund um Kinderbetreuung lernen.

We are looking for a nice workaway person who can help me, Maria, with everything to do with the baby, house and garden. Above all, you should enjoy helping with a small child. Whether you already have experience or not is not so important if the chemistry is right. :-)
Our little Alexander, called Sasha, will be one year old at the end of the year. He is currently practicing crawling diligently and is usually a calm, cheerful child. We are trying to make his arrival on this earth as humane as we can. This means that he is breastfed whenever and for as long as he wants, and he experiences a lot of physical contact, e.g. in a sling.
We will mainly work together so that I can have my hands free for household or garden tasks. If Sasha and you get along well, you will be able to move around more and more independently. We will also do the shopping or go to the beach (where you will of course also go swimming).
In addition to childcare, typical tasks include household chores such as vacuuming or cooking, watering our grounds and garden (usually with drip irrigation or a hose), sweeping, weeding or planting.
The helping hours will tend to be in the afternoons (around 14:00 - 19:00). It would be nice if you could be a bit flexible, as everything depends on Sasha's sleeping times. This means that your free time would be in the mornings.
For the 5-minute descent into the Barranco, you should be physically fit, sure-footed and have a normal sense of balance.

Wir suchen eine nette Workawayerin, die mir, Maria, bei allem rund um Baby, Haus und Garten zur Hand gehen kann. Du solltest vor allem Freude am Umgang mit einem Kleinkind mitbringen. Ob du schon Erfahrung hast oder nicht, ist nicht so wichtig, wenn die Chemie stimmt. :-)
Unser kleiner Alexander, genannt Sasha, wird Ende des Jahres ein Jahr alt. Er übt gerade fleißig krabbeln, und ist ein meist ruhiges, heiteres Kind. Wir versuchen, ihm das Ankommen auf dieser Erde so menschengerecht wie wir können zu gestalten. Das heißt, er wird gestillt, wann und solange er möchte, und er erfährt viel Körperkontakt, z.B. im Tragetuch.
Wir werden vorwiegend zusammen arbeiten, damit ich einfach mal die Hände für Haushalts- oder Gartenarbeiten frei habe. Wenn Sasha und du euch gut versteht, könnt ihr euch auch zunehmend selbstständiger bewegen. Wir werden auch Einkäufe machen oder mal zum Strand fahren (wo du natürlich auch zum Baden kommst).
Typische Aufgaben sind über die Kinderbetreuung hinaus im Haushalt anfallende Tätigkeiten wie Staubsaugen oder Kochen, auf unserem Gelände und im Garten muss gegossen werden (meist mit Tröpfchenbewässerung oder Schlauch), gefegt, Unkraut entfernt oder auch mal etwas eingepflanzt werden.
Die Arbeitszeit wird eher nachmittags anfallen (etwa 14:00 - 19:00 Uhr). Es wäre schön, wenn du da ein bisschen flexibel wärst, da bei uns alles von Sashas Schlafzeiten abhängt. Das heißt, deine Freizeit wäre vormittags.
Für den etwa 5-minütigen Abstieg in den Barranco solltest du über ein bisschen körperliche Fitness, Trittsicherheit und einen normal entwickelten Gleichgewichtssinn verfügen.

I have been on La Palma for three years and I spend dedicated time learning Spanish. You are welcome to accompany me on shopping trips, visits, etc. in your free time and join me for visits of my local Spanish friends.
Accommodation
You will be accommodated in our caravan with electricity and internet connection and a double bed (we switch off the WLAN at night). You will have access to an outdoor shower and toilet with a view of the sea.
We will organize the meals flexibly. At least one meal a day is important to us. Otherwise, you can use the well-equipped cooking facilities in the caravan. You can take whatever you need with you, mainly vegetarian food.
You've come to the right place if the following points are also important to you:
- (predominantly) vegetarian food
- Avoidance of addictive substances and stimulants (except coffee and black tea)
The helping hours should be 5 hours Monday to Friday (25 hours/week). As Sasha sleeps a lot in the morning and at lunchtime, you will be needed more in the afternoon/evening.

Du wirst in unserem Wohnwagen mit Strom- und Internetanschluss und Doppelbett unterkommen (nachts schalten wir das WLAN aus). Dir stehen Außendusche und -toilette mit Blick aufs Meer zur Verfügung.
Die Mahlzeiten werden wir flexibel gestalten. Mindestens eine gemeinsame Mahlzeit am Tag ist uns wichtig. Ansonsten steht dir die gut ausgestattete Kochgelegenheit im Wohnwagen zur Verfügung. Du kannst dir bei uns an vorwiegend vegetarischen Lebensmitteln mitnehmen, was du benötigst.
Du bist bei uns richtig, wenn folgende Punkte dir ebenfalls wichtig sind:
- (vorwiegend) vegetarisches Essen
- Verzicht auf Sucht- und Genussmittel (ausgenommen Kaffee und Schwarztee)
Die Arbeitszeit soll montags bis freitags 5 Stunden (25 Std./Woche) umfassen. Da Sasha vormittags und mittags viel schläft, wirst du eher nachmittags/abends benötigt.
What else ...
The nearest bus stop is about a 20-minute walk from us. You can catch line 100 (Santa Cruz - Barlovento) there and travel to the capital Santa Cruz in about 20 minutes.
There are plenty of lovely swimming spots on the east side of the island - the town beach at Santa Cruz, gentle waves at Los Cancajos, or the sea pools at La Fajana in the northeast. The spectacular Playa de Nogales beach, which is within walking distance from us, is unfortunately currently closed after a landslide.
La Palma has a well signposted network of hiking trails. For example, the Camino Real, which circles the whole island, passes almost in front of our front door.
In addition to the cities of Santa Cruz and Los Llanos, the Roque de los Muchachos (with 2,426 m the highest mountain on the island), the observatories located up there and the Los Tilos waterfall are tourist highlights of the island. Of course, a visit to the volcano that erupted last year and a ride on the newly built road through the lava tube are also worthwhile.

Die nächste Bushaltestelle ist von uns zu Fuß etwa 20 Min. entfernt. Du kannst dort die Linie 100 (Santa Cruz - Barlovento) erreichen und innerhalb von etwa 25 Minuten in die Hauptstadt Santa Cruz fahren.
Es gibt viele schöne Bademöglichkeiten auf der Ostseite der Insel - den Stadtstrand in Santa Cruz, sanften Wellengang in Los Cancajos oder die Meeresschwimmbecken in La Fajana im Nordosten. Der spektakuläre Strand Playa de Nogales, der fußläufig von uns aus erreichbar ist, ist derzeit nach einem Steinrutsch leider gesperrt.
La Palma verfügt über ein gut ausgeschildertes Netz von Wanderwegen. Fast vor unserer Haustür führt z.B. der Camino Real vorbei, der die ganze Insel einmal umrundet.
Neben den Städten Santa Cruz und Los Llanos sind der Roque de los Muchachos (mit 2.426 m der höchste Berg der Insel), die dort oben befindlichen Sternwarten und der Wasserfall Los Tilos touristische Highlights der Insel. Natürlich lohnt sich auch eine Besichtigung des Vulkans, der im letzten Jahr ausgebrochen ist, und eine Fahrt über die neu gebaute Straße durch die Lavawalze.
