    Description

I work from home alongside my teenage daughter and our lovely deerhound cross. Our home is located in a beautiful village just 2 km from the beach, offering a peaceful environment surrounded by nature. While I'm away, I'm seeking a responsible individual to help house-sit and care for our energetic dog. This opportunity is perfect for someone who loves dogs and is experienced in their care.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travellers will benefit from a rich cultural exchange in Ballinspittle village, just 2 km from Garretstown beach but multiple other beaches, cliff and woodland walks are dotted along the coastline. In the summer the local beach is a hub of activity with coffee, food, surf and saunas. Ballinspittle is a charming village with local shops, an award winning bakery, art and gift shop and a famous grotto which drew international attention in the 80s for it's moving statues. Ballinspittle provides easy access to nearby towns including historic Kinsale via a ten minute drive on a local bus or 45 minute cycle. Kinsale's Charles Fort, an architectural gem attracting travellers from afar—promises an unforgettable journey into Ireland's storied past

In terms of learning, they will gain valuable experience in handling and caring for a large, energetic dog, which can be especially rewarding for those who love animals. Given that my deerhound cross can be nervous around strangers, this presents a chance for travellers to develop their skills in building trust and rapport with animals. Additionally, they will learn about the importance of regular exercise and mental stimulation for dogs.

I would like to find someone to stay in my home and mind my deerhound cross while I am away. She is quite energetic and is used to loads of exercise. 2-3 walks per day or 2 hours per day. Must be able to manage a large dog who is nervous of strangers and inclined to bark at people if they are too close to her but once she trusts you is super adorable. Someone who loves dogs, understands how to behave with nervous dogs and has experience with them is a must. In order to meet her exercise she will need to be let off lead which needs managing but this will be explained and demonstrated before I depart. Other expectations would include maintaining the grass and garden and keeping the house clean.

My dog is totally fine to be left home on her own once she has been walked. There is a multitude of activities in the area described above.

I work from home so I walk my dog three times a day. There is so many beaches and woodland areas to walk her. On my time off I go to Kinsale to shop, get a coffee or eat out in the multitude of award winning restaurants. There is farmers market on a Wednesday, a book shop that hosts gigs in the town where you can get the last bus back to Ballinspittle. It really is the ultimate summer getaway for someone.
