Hello! We are Simeon and Mary, we are a young couple. We live on a family owned certified organic farm located in a beautiful sub-tropical valley in the south of Spain in Granada province where we tend to a variety of fruit trees like olive, advocado, and various types of citrus fruit amongst others. We also keep a varied vegetable garden throughout the year which we normally guide by a lunar calender. We live off-grid and are powered by solar panels. There is spring water on the farm for drinking and irrigation which also provides the house. Our project right now is focused mainly on a earthbagbuilding project, extending our present one-room house using the single bag technique.
Simeon normally works maintaining other small farms in the area and on his own farm .
Mary is currently six months pregnant and takes care of our garden, house 2 dogs and of course herself and the baby.
Help with Eco project
We are friendly and open minded people, willing to share our sustainable and organic life style, as well as our knowledge of organic farming.
We are looking for volunteers with interest and/or experience in ecoconstuction, to participate in an Earhtbag building project, single bag technique. We will need help moving and preparing adobe mix, filling and placing bags, doors and windows, plastering and woodwork for the roof depending on which phase of the project we are.
Spanish, English and Dutch.
We have a yurt, a caravan and also there is possibility to camp in a tent.
We provide vegetarian breakfast for the workers to prepare for themselves and Mary will cook a warm lunch to eat alltogether. We will share what produce we have from the garden and farm at the given season (fruits, vegetables, herbs, olive oil) so workers can make their own dinner. Vegan food is also an option.
Afternoons here are great for hiking and walks through the surroundig area or simply enjoying the views and tranquility from our farm.
Our farm is located between 6 and 700 meters above sea level in a subtropical valley south of Granada, the nearest small town is a 30/40 minute walk downhill. The nearest bigger town is a 45 minute drive so we recommend some shopping for personal tastes and items for breakfast and dinner before hand.
We are a 40 minute drive from the Costa Tropical. Granada city is an hour and a half by car, the Alpujarra and Sierra Nevada around an hour. Bus connections are very limited and restricted to weekdays.
Maximum 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week
