Help in a vegan guesthouse in Cape Verde

  Description

  We are a vegan guesthouse on the island of Santo Antão, Cape Verde. During low season we are looking for someone who can help the kitchen staff develop a new menu for the coming high season. Or if you are a handy person who can do some light maintenance tasks around the hotel or would be interested in teaching our staff some English or French, we'd also be happy to host you!

  You will be part of our team of 8. We are mostly women (only 2 men, our receptionist and my husband, are part of the staff and they don't cook). We like to talk, laugh, enjoy working in a relaxed atmosphere. Our guesthouse is located in the greenest valley of Santo Antão and Cape Verde. You'll have plenty of free time to go hiking and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and get to know a different culture.

  Help

  We're looking for a (vegan) chef that can come and teach our staff some new things. Preferably someone with knowledge of the Portuguese language since our staff only speaks Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole. We're looking for someone creative that can invent some tasty dishes with what is available locally. Breakfast, (packed) lunch and dinner will be provided for you.
  
  We can also use someone who is handy and can help us repair/repaint/fix some things around the hotel. If you'd be interested in helping us out with some light maintenance tasks around the hotel, there's no need to speak Portuguese.
  
  If you'd like to teach our staff some English or French a knowledge of the Portuguese language is necessary.

  Accommodation

  A single room in our guesthouse. The room has a mini fridge, coffee and tea making facilities and air-conditioning. It has a private bathroom and a shared balcony. If you'd like you can bring a friend to share the room with. But keep in mind that the room is small and has a small double bed (140 x 200 cm).

  Your time off can be spent hiking, exploring the island, swimming in the ocean or the river.

  We can host digital nomads, but be aware that our wifi is not like the European wifi. If your job heavily relies on video calls, it would be better to get a local sim card and use the mobile internet for this.
