    ABOUT US

Hi! I’m Federica, originally from Gignod, a small alpine village near Aosta in the beautiful Aosta Valley.
I love crafting, travelling, meeting people from different cultures and sharing stories over good food.

Together with my partner Didier, we have been welcoming Workawayers for several years and one of our favourite parts of every project is the human connection created along the way.
Didier is 36 and works in furniture design. He is a dreamer, passionate about films, books, architecture and travel.

This year things are a little different: I am currently pregnant, so while I will always be around and available during the day, I will not be able to take part in physically demanding work — but I’ll happily coordinate, organise, cook, chat and make sure everyone feels at home 😊

    ABOUT THE PROJECT

We are chronic dreamers and always have a new project in mind.
After renovating our own home and other family properties over the past years, our 2026 project is the renovation of my father’s mountain house in Buthier, a tiny hamlet above Gignod.
This is a real family renovation project, and we love sharing the process with people who enjoy hands-on experiences, creativity and seeing a place slowly come to life.
All projects and activities with Workawayers take place in Gignod / Buthier, Aosta Valley, in the heart of the Italian Alps.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    ACCOMMODATION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Due to major renovation works in both our home and the guest house this year, we unfortunately cannot provide a private indoor room as we did in previous seasons.

Accommodation options for 2026 are therefore:

-Camping in our meadow/garden (beautiful mountain setting)
-Parking for camper vans / vans
-For very short stays only (1–3 nights maximum): possibility to sleep on our sofa indoors

You will still have full access to:
    -Bathroom / shower
-Our house and common living spaces
    -Wi-Fi
    -Electricity / charging facilities

⚠️ This year’s setup is much more rustic than usual and may not suit everyone.
If you are looking for comfort or privacy, this may not be the right opportunity for you.

But if you love simple mountain life, outdoor living and authentic family projects, you may love it here.

    🍝 MEALS & EXPECTED HELP

We ask for around 3 hours of help per day, with flexibility to organise longer days in exchange for full days off so you can enjoy the mountains.
In exchange, we provide: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

We love sharing meals together whenever possible and consider this an important part of the cultural exchange.

    🚗 IMPORTANT LOGISTICS

Buthier is a tiny mountain hamlet above Gignod.
Having your own car / van is strongly recommended as public transport is limited and the village is not easily reachable without a vehicle.
Perfect for people travelling by camper van / road trip / with their own transport.

Five friends sit around a table on green grass, enjoying a meal outdoors among trees, with mountains and clouds dramatically rising in the scenic background.
Four people are working together inside a rustic building, lifting and positioning a large wooden beam under a wooden roof with exposed stone walls and bricks.
A group of seven people and a black dog smile together outdoors, posing for a selfie with rustic stone buildings, grass, and forested hills in the background.
A man takes a selfie while a smiling woman sits on the ground, holding a paintbrush and paint can, likely working on a painting project outside.
