    ABOUT US

Hi! I’m Federica, originally from Gignod, a small alpine village near Aosta in the beautiful Aosta Valley.
I love crafting, travelling, meeting people from different cultures and sharing stories over good food.

Together with my partner Didier, we have been welcoming Workawayers for several years and one of our favourite parts of every project is the human connection created along the way.
Didier is 36 and works in furniture design. He is a dreamer, passionate about films, books, architecture and travel.

This year things are a little different: I am currently pregnant, so while I will always be around and available during the day, I will not be able to take part in physically demanding work — but I’ll happily coordinate, organise, cook, chat and make sure everyone feels at home 😊

    ABOUT THE PROJECT

We are now able to welcome volunteers in our house in Buthier, in Aosta Valley. It is a peaceful and beautiful place, surrounded by nature, but it is also a place where you need to be quite independent.

For this reason, coming with your own car is absolutely necessary. Public transport is not running here, and without a car it would be difficult to move around, visit the area or manage daily life comfortably.

The house is habitable, but still a work in progress. The help can include small renovation tasks, sanding, painting, cleaning, organising spaces, helping outside, and sometimes supporting us with creative or artisan projects.

We usually ask for around 3 hours of help per day. The schedule is flexible: we care more about trust, communication and practical help than about strict working hours. We simply ask for a short daily update about what has been done.

We generally prefer to start with one week and then decide together whether to extend the stay.

This experience is best suited for someone independent, practical, respectful, with a car, who enjoys mountain life, quiet places and hands-on projects.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    ACCOMMODATION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Accommodation is in Buthier. The house is habitable, but please keep in mind that it is still a mountain home and part of a family project, so the experience may be simple and authentic rather than “hotel-like”.
This setup is best suited for independent people who enjoy simple mountain life, quiet places, nature and practical projects.
If you are looking for full comfort, hotel-style accommodation or a very social city lifestyle, this may not be the right opportunity for you.
But if you love mountains, peaceful places, manual work and authentic family projects, you may really enjoy it here.

    MEALS & EXPECTED HELP

As we ask for a maximum of 3 hours of help per day, meals are not included.

The help can include small renovation tasks, cleaning, organising spaces, painting, sanding, helping outside, gardening, or supporting us with simple creative/artisan projects.
We like the exchange to be fair and relaxed: you will have a place to stay, and in return we ask for a few hours of practical help each day.
The schedule can be flexible, and we can agree together on the best rhythm depending on the weather, the tasks and your plans to explore the area.

IMPORTANT LOGISTICS – OWN CAR REQUIRED
Having your own car or van is essential. Public transport is very limited, and the village is not easily reachable without a vehicle.
For this reason, we can only host volunteers who come with their own car / van / camper.
This opportunity is perfect for people travelling by road trip, camper van, or with their own transport, who want to discover the mountains while living a simple and authentic experience.

Five friends sit around a table on green grass, enjoying a meal outdoors among trees, with mountains and clouds dramatically rising in the scenic background.
Four people are working together inside a rustic building, lifting and positioning a large wooden beam under a wooden roof with exposed stone walls and bricks.
A group of seven people and a black dog smile together outdoors, posing for a selfie with rustic stone buildings, grass, and forested hills in the background.
A man takes a selfie while a smiling woman sits on the ground, holding a paintbrush and paint can, likely working on a painting project outside.
