    Description

I am a recently retired home owner with an interesting old home and a large block, converting to permaculture. I am also a consultant mediator, a gardener and a Vipassana meditator. I enjoy yoga, paint and draw and love cooking from my garden. I am an energetic woman and have a large heritage noted retro home and a large garden. I eat birds, fish, reptiles and vegetables… sometimes fruit and grains.

Kyogle is a plain town near the Border Ranges National Park, and the whole shire has about 10,000 people with many isolated villages. I love its unpretentiousness even though it’s only an hour or so from touristica Byron Bay and 90 minutes from Queensland's Gold Coast. I like it even though town life is new for me. One passenger train from Brisbane-Sydney arrives daily.

I have 2 grown sons who visit me, but they’re not involved in this project.

I am happy to learn your language and assist with English
I am an Arts Kyogle committee member so some interesting work in November 26 and Jan 27 for art exhibitions may arise
You can set up art space at my place in the shed.
I used to run a compost company. I grow food and make soil. I can identify the secret life in the soil using a microscope.

On my 2000m property I have a huge old food forest that needs a makeover.

I have food growing in an emerging permaculture design, converting lots of tedious grass. There’s composting to learn about; and build… I used to run a composting tea service and love making it. There's a battery operated new lawnmower, several power tools, lots of hand tools.

Fruit trees to plant, weeds to upheave… soil to protect and nourish, swales to dig, worms to admire.

There’s also loads of steps to build from recycled timbers and other onsite material plus chain saw work if you’re strong and skilled.

There’s shed for space - it does need repairs, and other maintenance.

All tasks can be shared or done alone.

    ACTIVITIES
Bush walking, yoga, gym, pilates, tennis club and swimming. There’s a 50m pool in the Main Street, a small cinema, library and cafes. One supermarket, lots of cultural events and a thriving gallery. There's two hardware shops, one large fruit tree nursery outside of town, and two pubs. I'm 50 minutes from Nimbin, 80 minutes from Byron Bay, and 10 minutes walk from the railway station (XPT Brisbane to Sydney, Kyogle is the first stop south). Lismore is the nearest big town - 30 minutes drive away - buses go there three times daily.

There's a monthly market, weekly farmers' market, and opportunities to work on other peoples' properties. Kyogle has a conventional rodeo event annually, and a community gym at the showgrounds. There's also a large bat colony, a river, and outside Kyogle an enormous lake dam. There's waterfalls and the Mt Nardi bushwalks - right through to Nightcap National Park to the east, and several others from the Border Ranges.
