  • Description

    Hi Everyone!

We are Monika and Daniel, a young couple that moved from Poland/Brazil to Ecuador to start a new, exciting chapter of life on this side of the continent. In November 2014 we made our dream come true, we bought a house in the famous village of Montanita and created a cosy hostel that quickly built a great reputation and became a home away from home for travellers from all around the world. We have been running the hostel ourselves for over a year now but due to our personal circumstances, we'll need some extra help.

We need volunteers who will help us keep our place as "heavenly" as possible :)

The hostel is small (max 15 people capacity), super homely, safe and peaceful. We're located in El Tigrillo, a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood of Montanita, around 10mins walking distance from the crazy hectic centre of Montanita.

Travelers come to us in search of tranquillity and nature, which there's plenty of all-around our house. We keep our hostel very clean and we take the best care of our guests we can.

Our dream is to find volunteers who would like to help us with property maintenance, housekeeping, gardening, attending guests, and any other activity that his/her skills might become handy. We're looking for a friendly, outgoing, reliable, punctual person that also knows how to clean well (enjoying or being used to doing labour-intensive jobs such as housekeeping, gardening, etc is a must) and likes interacting with people.

We need the volunteer to speak at least advanced English and preferably good Spanish (not a must though). The minimum required commitment time is 2 weeks.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travelers who stay with us can improve their Spanish (apart from everyday practice the volunteers can take classes with our on-site teacher) and get to know a lot about Ecuador, its people, and culture. They can also learn about our home countries (Poland and Brazil) and learn or improve several different languages that we speak. The benefits of mingling with our guests who come from all over the world are uncountable! Making friends and exchanging travel info being one of them. We live an eco-friendly lifestyle so quite a bit can be learnt about living a green life and gardening. Learning about hostel management is a big plus especially for those who plan on volunteering in other hostels or opening their own hostel in the future. We also provide our volunteers all the information about Montanita and its surroundings so that our volunteers can have the best time possible and be of help to our guests when it comes to giving advice and recommendations. Surfing, yoga, diving, cycling (we have 3 bikes available), hiking are only some of the activities typical for Montanita-based life that our volunteers can enjoy.
We also offer a 50% off on surfing classes and board rentals to the volunteers.

  • Help

We mainly need help with housekeeping (cleanliness is extremely important to us!!! if you don't like to clean or you find it downgrading unfortunately it's not a position for you), a bit of general maintenance, gardening, and attending the guests. Sometimes we need a hand with looking after our cute and very active daughters.

In the first year of our hostel, we built a very strong reputation, made lots of guests happy, and gained almost two hundred fabulous reviews on multiple websites. We hope that our volunteer would help us keep our great reputation and would contribute to the nice, homely atmosphere here.

    What else ...

Montanita is famous for surfing and partying, that's the two things you'll always find here. The biggest advantage of our place is that while you have super easy access to both of these activities (and many more), the beach is only 7-10mins walking distance away from our hostel and the centre 10-12mins away, here at our hostel you find an amazingly green, safe and peaceful spot where you can relax, rest, unwind, charge your batteries and always sleep like a baby (an exceptional thing in party filled Montanita!).

In your free time volunteers can simply relax at our place, rock in the hammock, play with our cute pets (one of the favourite activities of our guests!), read, chat with the guest, go to the beach, surf, go on hikes in and around Montanita, explore the nearby villages and points of interest, go on a tour, paraglide, go to Machalila National Park.

Whatever the activity, we're always happy to give all the advice and information to make it easier/cheaper for the volunteer to enjoy it. We also have great recommendations for eating, drinking and partying in Montanita that we're always happy to share with our volunteers.

Volunteers are required to speak advanced English and at least good Spanish. They can use their time here to practice their Spanish with us or to learn one of the many languages that we speak, we'll be happy to help with that.
