Located in the Cranberry Valley farming community on Salt Spring Island, right by Mount Maxwell Provincial Park, 6 km to Ganges and around the corner from Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, our small permaculture farm is home to numerous plants and animals. Our 5 acre farm always has things to-do. Workers will help with gardening ,renovation projects and general maintenance on the property.
We are very food focused and offer delicious, healthy meals to share with our guests. Our home is health focused so we don't allow smoking in our living/shared areas home but respect our guests choices in their own time and space.
We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, plus chickens and ducks.

Help
We are looking for one or two people to assist on a number of renovation and garden maintenance projects.
We propose approx 25 hour work exchange per week for the provision of accommodation, basic food staples, fruits and vegetables grown on our land and sharing of our knowledge and experience.
Ideally, the people we are looking for have the following qualities:
• an interest in building and making things
• Knowledge and experience growing and gardening
• Motivated, creative, enthusiastic/positive, hard-working, enjoy working independently and the satisfaction of a good day's work
• Passionate about organic food, creating healthier, more fulfilling ways of living, with a desire to learn about carpentry and permaculture
• Wanting to live on Salt Spring Island for the summer

Accommodation
In the summer accommodation is in a private forest with furnished canvas tents on platforms, an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, accessory solar power and outdoor shower. The miner’s canvas tents (shared for a couple, private for singles) are more like very basic square yurts than tents. There is a central kitchen tent with propane stove, potable water and wood stove. In the cooler seasons we host travelers in our home.

Salt Spring is an amazing, vibrant, island community with nice beaches, great swimming lakes and lots going on all summer. Winter is quieter and more suited for introspection and relaxation.
