Description
WINTER 2024-25 UPDATE:
Right now I am looking mostly for just a company; someone mentally close to share the living space with and have a chat. At the moment I'm close to Napoli, moving West. Probably, by the end of October I'll get a winter-long mooring in a marina somewhere in the Spain and will stay there until March-April 2025.
If you're going to join, you should accept that all expenses are shared, including the boat equipment (not related to sailing) that may fail during the winter.
---
I live on a 39ft sailboat alone with my dog. Sometimes need a helping hand with some maintenance projects or travelling around. I am slowly moving around the Mediterranean so passages are not very long, but cockpit views are always awesome.Types of help and learning opportunities

I am open-minded tho a little introversial person, sometimes overperfecting things. I'm a big fan of sci-fi, good electronic music and books. I speak English and Russian, so if you wish to practice these — you're welcome. I also need to speak English more, so benefit may be mutual. If you like to discuss techie things then I couldn't be more happy. Tho I love to learn new things, so if you're a master of anything — it will be a pleasure for me to listen and learn.
Help
I don't require any special skills masters, would be nice if you're passionate enough for learning new things by doing and have even a little engineering/safety mindset. Would be absolutely fabulous if I could learn from you. Labour could be mechanic, electricity, plumbing, painting help along with a sailor duties on passages. Living on a boat is a 100% "repair your boat in an exotic places".
IMPORTANT:
Expenses: I pay for food and accommodation only if the boat is out of the water. During the normal boat operation workawayer exchange their help for the opportunity to live onboard.
Drugs and alcohol: No "substances" of any type allowed onboard. Alcohol is allowed but only on anchorages/in marinas. No "high" or "drunk af" people on the boat.
Safety: As a captain I am responsible for the crew safety. Hence "Safety first" principle applied round o'clock and I expect from the crew avoiding activities that may lead to personal injuries or breaking the boat.Languages

I wish to practice English with natives, tho I'm getting interested in learning Spanish.Accommodation
You will have a private sleeping cabin on a boat, all other facilities are shared. Living on a boat is a somewhat sketchy thing. Fresh water is always limited, no shower three times a day (tho a sea is always just a meter away). Toilet is hand-driven. Drinking water is a matter of carrying a lot of 5L bottles from the shop time to time. Fridge is relatively small and overall living space is less than an usual two-bedroom apartment.
But there are tons of benefits of living onboard, starting from the cockpit view that changes any time you wish (and even by itself when boat is circling around the anchor), which can't be described easily but soon come obvious when you live onboard. :)What else ...
Leisure options while living onboard usually include a lot of shoreline exploration wherever the boat stops, any available local pleasure options which may or may not include different POIs, like museums, ruins, historical sites, diving/snorkelling sites. At the boat itself the main pleasure is having a long-drink looking at the sunset knowing you've done a good job today.
Please, write a _short_ intro about yourself, the time and duration you'd like to join me, and answer the following questions:
1. Why do you think you would be a useful member of the crew? How could I or my boat benefit from your presence here?
2. Name your favourite book, movie, and character, and explain why.
3. Do you agree that boat life can be very challenging, does not include air-conditioning, fresh water showers at will, or Starbucks, but may involve a lot of sweat while doing dirty jobs in inconvenient spaces and positions?
4. Do you agree that the captain (me) is the sole authority onboard, and during the passage, no captain's orders may be argued or declined?
5. Do you agree that failure to comply with paragraph 4 will result in immediate ejection to the closest inhabited shoreline?A little more information
Internet access
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
Can host digital nomads
It's possible to work remotely from the boat. Usually I'm sharing the internet from the phone, but in places with the weak reception I have a special router with the high-gain antenna to speed-up things.
How many Workawayers can stay?
Two
Hours expected
Most of the help onboard require just an hour or two. Sometimes there should be done a lot in a very tight schedule (e.g. painting must be layed with a precision timing to last long). But I promise not to get anyone helping more than 15 hrs a week.

Calm, nice, interesting to talk with and working hard.
They spent about two weeks with me and had a truly hard job to get done. And I must say, they did their best.
