    Description

Our happy, busy family of four (Mum, Dad and 2 boys aged 4 and 2), live in a beautiful 8 bedroom country house within a 36 acre estate in the Dartmoor National Park. We are surrounded by a beautiful wild garden, ancient woodlands, pasture, river and lake, and are joined by 2 cats, 5 chickens, 40 sheep and 4 Highland cows. On our doorstep are hikes, walks, bike rides and swims, the nearest pub is a 5 minute drive (30 minute walk) and the nearest large village (shops, petrol station etc) is a 10 minute drive. Plymouth City is about a 25 minute drive.

This would suit travellers with an interest in nature and the environment, the great outdoors and rural English life. It is a very special part of the World - lush and green and ancient - and there is a great community.

  • Help

    Help

Both Mum and Dad work from home, with occasional travel, and the children are in school/nursery, but we very much need help with wrap-around care (3.30 - 6pm Mon - Thur) and extra help on school holidays, with a little bit of weekend babysitting occasionally. After school help involves playtime, preparing meals, tidying up, and it would be ideal to have a drivers license to do the school pick up (and also to avoid feeling stranded in the beautiful countryside!). We manage the estate for a charity which is managing it for nature with woodlands, orchards and sustainable farming.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We are blessed with quite a few accommodation options, so depending on the candidate (or couple), we could offer a private room en-suite in one wing of the house, or an entirely separate self-contained apartment in the grounds. We generally like to share a weekly meal, but otherwise are happy for guests to be independent and do their own thing.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are open to insuring workawayers on our spare car so they can have independence. There is so much to see in the national park and surroundings - mountains, rivers, sandy beaches - history, culture, food - So it would be best suited to independent spirits who can make the most of this special location, and not miss being away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
