    Description

    Dear workawayer,

we are a family of 4: Luisa (italian), Gilles (french), Alice (10 years old, double nationality) and Mattéo (2 years old, still waiting for italian nationality). We also have a cat, Maia.
We are looking for a dynamic, patient and funny person taking care of Alice and Matteo and becoming part of our family.
Before giving you more information I have to tell you 2 things. First, we are looking for someone staying with us at least six months (ideally one year), the kids need time for adapting to a new family member. Second, we are sorry for you guys, my daughter prefers to be with a lady. I know this is completely politically uncorrect, but she is only ten, I hope you'll understand :)

    More details :
My name is Luisa and my husband is Gilles. We are an open-minded international family, I am Italian and Gilles is French. We both work in the environment (Gilles works in the waste management and I am a teacher of marine ecology at the University of Nice).
Alice is a nice girl, fluently speaking both Italian and French and with good bases in English (she went to school for two months in New Zealand). She loves reading, watching movies, playing tennis, athletics, dancing, skiing and overall, diving in the swimming pool!

Matteo is a lovely baby boy, very active and always in a good mood (apart when he is hungry :). He loves his little plastic motorbike and playing Lego with his sister. He is just starting speaking, but he is very good with sign tongue (his nanny taught him), so it's very easy to understand him 5and he is super funny°!
We stay in Nice, Côte d’Azur, in a sunny place close to Villefranche-sur-mer. We live at the first floor of a family house with a big garden and a swimming pool. The workawayer will stay in an independent "dependence" in the garden equipped with a room, a bathroom and a kitchen/living room. The workawayer will have his own room, and she will share the bathroom, the kitchen/living room, the garden and the pool with us (we use it mostly in summer).
Alice goes to school, at 100 m walk distance from the house, until 4.30/6.00 PM (depending on the day) apart on wednesdays that is not a school day in France. Matteo goes to the nanny (a french "assistante maternelle, a women keeping as a family nursery up to three kids at her place) every day, until 3.30/4.30 (depending on the day) except wednesdays. The nanny lives at 5 minutes by car from our place.
We love travelling and doing activities in the nature. We have a small boat in Villefranche, at 10 minutes from home. We also love the mountain, both in winter and in summer (we have a house in the french alps and a flat on the italian side of Alps) seeing friends, have appetizers and barbecues. The weekends are often quite busy, visiting or inviting friends and travelling (that was before COVID!).

We are keen in giving pocket money to the workawayer, as a kind of aupair, but we are flexible: if the workawayer prefers more spare time and no pocket money, this is also possible. The most important is having the "feeling" :))

Ideally (with the pocket-money option) we are looking for someone taking care of both Alice and Mattéo mostly picking them up from school (occasionally bringing them) and staying with them on wednesdays. After school/nanny the workawayer should give a bath to Matteo (every other day), play with kids, eventually chek Alice homework and (especially if we are late), prepare a simple dinner for Matteo (that starts starving at around 6h30). On wednesdays our workawayer is expected to spend the day with them, bringing Alice to her potential activities (this year is athletics in the morning) and possibly going afterwards to the playground, the beach, the library, or simply stay in the garden. In the other days the schedule is flexible and can be adjusted in function of the workawayer needs (french classes, hobbies...).
In general we try to be back quite early in the evening, around 6h30, so that we can stay a little bit with kids and have dinner all together.
An evening babysitting every two weeks is also welcome (this also was before COVID); weekends are free but we will be happy if the workawayer wants to join us in some activities.
We also expect the workawayer to participate in the household cores, principally concerning Alice and Mattéo spaces and things, and common spaces (not our room and bahthroom) and cooking sometimes.
Some of these activities can be negotiated in fonction of the pocket money :))

The area where we live (Monaco to Cannes) is very nice, highly touristic and offering several cultural activities (museums, concerts, theatre), often organized by the municipality. If he/she likes water activities, there are a lot of opportunities (swimming, scubadiving, apnea, stand up paddle, sailing, kayaking). If the workawayer likes the mountain, it is less than an hour far from Nice. In less the two hours by car there are several ski resorts.
Nice is a nice town offering a lot from the cultural (and gastronomic :)) point of view. Where we live is the perfect place to discover both Nice and several other small towns such as Villefranche sur Mer, Beaulieu or Eze. Monaco is 30 minutes by car (there are several buses serving the littoral towns to Monaco and the train).

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are many reasons why you should workaway in Nice. If he/she likes the mountain, it is less than an hour far from Nice. In less the two hours by car there are several ski resorts.
Even if we live in France we talk italian at home (I am italian, my husband is french). But little Alice prefers talking french :) We therefore would be happy to host a workawayer talking italian, so that Alice’s Italian can improve and Matteo che be immersed in Italian language since the beginning. The cultural exchange will be very rich, as he will be introduced to the french culture, but also the italian one. This is quite typical of the region, as Italian border is 40 km away. We also talk spanish and english.
The workawayer will be able to increase his/her experience in child care staying with kids of different ages (16 months and 9 years old; useful espacially for workawayers interested in teaching/childcare in the future). He/she will be able to take french classes in her/his spare time.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for a workawayer taking care of our kids.
We are looking for a long-term stay (at least 6 months), so that kids do not have change nanny too often :) Also, I am very sorry to exclude boys, but our daughter prefers a girl...
The workawayer will take care of both kids the whole day on wednesdays and will pick them up from school/nanny the other days (occasionnaly will bring matteo to the nany). The workawayer will be alone with the kids and will have to drive a car. Matteo is young (2 years old), so we are looking for a workawayer that has experience with kids. Alice is almost 10 years old, very autonomous, she can give a hand with Matteo, when she is at home :)

We are keen in giving some pocket money, as a kind of an aupair.
