The unique experience of living on a small remote island completely off the grid and everything that entails. The locals are friendly and there are lots of interesting characters that love to share stories of the area and its history. Just looking out the window here you can see whales, dolphins, porpoise, sea lions, bald eagles and with a short boat trip there are grizzlies and black bears. There are many social events in the area over the season such as the Shoal Bay Music Festival, the Gillard Pass Annual Salmon Enhancement Auction at Big Bay. The Community Centre at Big Bay also has an assortment of events during the season.
