Description
Hi, potential workawayer(s)!
We're Ben & Louise, a young-ish Irish couple living in Central Portugal. As you may have guessed from our pictures, we're very much dog people and have three - Kacamak, Bambi, and Pippa (in descending order of size). Occasionally, we'll be looking for people to house and dog-sit for us while we're away in Ireland. These can be pretty long stints, so it'd be great to have someone around who's chill with dogs. Other times, it may be that I'll need a little help with some sort of wacky project I'm working on in the garden or on the house itself.
About the place...
Where we live is pretty rural. There are about 25 people in our village, and there's no shop or cafe. Fear not, though, as these are all things that can be found within a few kilometers' radius. Having a car is a bit of a necessity around here.
The main draw of the area isn't the shopping or the nightlife, though. Around here, it's all about the nature and having an afternoon beer or 5 with the locals. If you speak Portuguese, great. If not, it's not a big deal. Plenty of people around here also speak English and/or French. There's also a vibrant immigrant community that hosts events and parties, so if you're feeling sociable, we can connect you with our network of people. For the active folks, there are ample marked trails that are great for hiking and mountain biking.
The houses themselves are all mod cons. There's mains electricity, heating, and a pretty intricate internet setup, so if you happen to work remotely, you'll easily have the means here to do so (100-200Mbps). We also have a nice big garden full of fruit trees with an amazing view over the valley.
If this sort of workaway appeals to you, feel free to get in touch with us and tell us a bit about yourself. Having been workawayers ourselves in the past, we'd like to think that we know what makes a good host. -
