    Description

Namaste! My name is Sumitra. President of this NGO, I am working at the moment in educational and health development in Kathmandu. I am demanding on people to join our school in the ktm's suburb area, to share with us your culture and to learn ours. I am interested in art, education, trekking, travelling and more, you are welcome to experience with me and my Nepalese friends our culture, beliefs, food, and history.
The school is becoming bigger and bigger every year, and we have nowadays 150 students, from the age of 3 years to 18. We provide a boarding school in which we are currently hosting 16 children, and offer them the chance to have a scholarship.
We have 13 classes, which go from the nursery to the 10th class. 16 teachers are involved in working in the school, with very low salary. They wish is firstly to give an education to the children, as education is for us one of the most important in life that every body should have the right to have.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We will teach you in exchange everthing you need and you want to know about our culture, way of lives, and language. As you certainly know, Nepal is full of secrets, art, souls, and beautiful people, added to the vibrant nature and breathtaking landscapes. We will help you with everything if you want to discover our country.
As a social worker, I am also involved on other extra activities, as cleaning the city to fight against pollution and be more careful about ecology. You could join me if you also want to help with those serious issues in KTM.

I am asking the volunteers to come with something to share. It means anything, if you like painting, we have many walls on which your can express yourself and help us at same time to bring colors and liveliness to the school. If you want to be involved in education, we would be happy that the volunteers spend time with the students to share knowledges. It can be teaching in classes and giving them valuable lessons, they are willing to learn and attentive.
Besides, the students are keen on playing, if you want to do activities with them, like sport, music, games, manual creation, you will have a good time, and they will as well!
Renovation and building can also be a way to help us. We try to have the best conditions for the children, but we are still in need of furnitures, improvement and restoration.
My wish is to create a librairy inside the school, that they could have the chance to have a place to read, to open their minds through literature from all over the world, and to expand their general knowledge.

Local transports or taxi are very easy to take from our place to Thamel (center of KTM), and will take you only 15/20 minutes to reach it, and 35/40 minutes to reach the center by walk. You can also ask for a lift if you are bolder. At the same time, you will live a real local experience in the Bodatar area, being surrounded only by locals, interact with them, and letting them guiding you for a peaceful and meaningful experience.
