    Description

Hi there! My name is Day. I'm a busy, single mother of 4 children aged 14, 11, 9 and 9 (yes! twins!) I have one pet cat and 2 pet mice. I live in a lovely home in Lenah Valley, very close to Hobart city. I am studying social work full time and also work at the Odeon Theatre and In The Hanging Gardens in Hobart CBD. When I'm not working or studying, I enjoy going on walks in the mountains or coastal tracks that surround Hobart, or to visit cafes, or chill out watching movies with my kids.

What to do in your free time

Hobart is a super fun and laid-back city with heaps to explore when you're off the clock. We're right near the city, so you'll be within walking distance or a short bus ride from all the good stuff. On Saturdays, Salamanca Market is a must, think handmade crafts, vintage clothes, delicious food trucks, and live music. You can also wander around the historic Battery Point or chill at the waterfront with fish and chips.

Art lovers will definitely want to take the ferry to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art),it's quirky, bold, and totally unique. If you're into the outdoors, there are some amazing hikes nearby, including kunanyi / Mount Wellington, which has stunning views over the whole city.

In the evenings, there are some great places to grab a drink or catch live music, Preachers is a local favourite with its cozy vibe and beer bus out the back, and In The Hanging Garden and Altar is known for its music scene. On days off, you can take a trip out to Bruny Island, Mount Field National Park, or even book a budget tour to Freycinet or Port Arthur.

Hobart’s got a bit of everything, nature, culture, and good vibes. We’re happy to give you tips and maybe even tag along on an adventure or two!

  • Help

    Help

I am hoping to find an energetic and capable helper to come and stay with my family and share childcare duties. My children stay with me 4 nights per week and stay with their father the other 3 nights per week. I am hoping for someone who can help me on those 4 nights, especially if I am at work, per week to assist the children with finishing dinner, brushing their teeth and getting to bed on time. There might also be assistance with getting them up on time for school in the morning, assisting with eating breakfast, packing their bags, brushing their teeth and getting out of the house on time to make their way to school. this will likely be less than 20 hours helping time per week and during the rest of your time there are no other expectations for help.

    What else ...

Our house is situated close to bus stops, and i also head into the city most days and on those days i will be happy to drop you in the city if you would like to go there. on the nights that my children are at home we usually go to bed at 9pm and get up at 730am. i try to keep the house very quiet in those hours so the kids can get enough sleep. On the other nights it is more flexible.
