Description
I’ve been sailing for more than 20 years around the Caribbean and crossed the Atlantic ocean twice. Now it’s been more than 4 years that I’m based in Portobelo, doing day tours.
Portobelo is an historic port founded by Spanish in 1597. There are still fortresses from the Spanish time that you can visit. What I love about this area is the nature, the forest is still pristine, and the landscape is super green.
This is also a good place for hikes and snorkelling.
I’m looking for someone that is interested in getting sailing Experience and ready to help on the boat, in exchange of accommodation and learning.Types of help and learning opportunities
Creating/ Cooking family mealsHospitality/TourismGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
They could improve their Spanish and they would get some Sailing learning experience

The accommodation is on the boat. It will be a double cabin just for you.
Most of the time when there are no guests, you will be the only person living onboard. Sometimes Jenny the owner can be around.
I will be sleeping on my other boat anchored a couple of meters away from the catamaran. What else ...
Also when there are no tours, you can see if there are some tasks the captain needs help with. And you have free time too.
But you should stay around Portobelo area, because some tours may suddenly come up for the following day.
During free time you can also do snorkeling, you can hike, you can do kayak or paddleboard etc All these activities are possible in the area.
Lunch included during day tour, same menu as guests
This opportunity is not for Workawayers looking for much entertainment, nightlife, drinking, 'funsundays', etc... It is a serious community of sailors and supporting professionals interested in the sea, local culture, and tranquility.
