    Description

**Looking for some special skills. Construction. Murals. Landscaping. Someone who really knows how to clean well and has experience with travel and volunteering. Forward thinkers who do not need a lot of guidance. We have had so much fun with all of our volunteers but the ones who leave us with an amazing project like an outdoor shower, murals, tile work, bodega build, or who really take initiative with the daily tasks without being asked are the ones who are really best for our business moving forward. What skills do you have? Preferably 21 years of age or older with previous positive feedback on workaway**

Our hostel is located in Uvita, Costa Rica. Home of primary rain forests, surfing beaches, waterfalls, hiking, zip lining, national parks, snorkeling, scuba diving, amazing restaurants, eco retreats, and so much more. We are bringing a super special and unique experience to Costa Rica. We are a "ship" You can do yoga on deck, lounge in our hammocks, cook in the galley, bunk below deck in your very own cabin, sit by the bon fire, walk to the beach, grocery stores, banks, bus station, waterfalls, and more. We are centrally located. Convenient but not quiet. We are in the center of town. Looking for someone to stay inspired to do fun things around the hostel and improve the space. Not looking for the bare minimum to stay here. Paint stuff! Make stuff! Develop new systems! Start an event! Lets do this! Your first few days here are on a trial basis and we reserve the right to ask you to leave if things are not working out. We will always give you at least 3 days to find your next spot and we will be really nice about it. Not everyone can be a good fit. We do not have separate staff housing like some hostels do so we are giving up on selling your bed to a paying guest when you you here and its important for everyone to feel like its a really good trade for all parties. In the same respect if you feel called to something else, give us a notice, finish out your shifts, and we will help you plan your next destination while finding a replacement.

*We are not a party hostel. We have been open for one year now and 90% of our guests go to sleep by 9-10pm and wake up early for tours or yoga or hikes. The only time we have had late night partying until 4am with a big mess to clean is when a volunteer gets it started. If you want to party hard, no judgement, but this is not the place for you. We do have some bars nearby with a late night vibe. Stay out and be quiet when you return. Most of our guests give us feedback about how nice it is to get good sleep and find some peace while staying with us. NOT A PARTY HOSTEL! We do however love music, dance, yoga, board games, group activities, story telling, and many other fun things.

We built off the Whale Tail National Park in Uvita, Costa Rica. Right now we are looking for builders, gardeners, muralists, help with online presence, daily cleaning and hospitality, and so much more. What are you good at? Come share your skills and experience the vast nature that this incredible slice of life has to offer. We also are due March, 2024 with our first child. She will get to meet people from all over the world and experience so many different things during her life here at the hostel. We are so excited to add her to the team.

We offer our team a cabin bunk located "below deck" with the other paying guests. The hostel has 12 cabin bunks below deck. These cabins include AC, reading lights, fans, lockers, curtains for privacy, and extra storage. We also have a digital nomad workspace "on deck" with high speed fiber optic internet. We plan to offer things like ecstatic dance, yoga, fitness, and more. We also have a fully equipped community kitchen in our "galley". This Galley is the bow of the ship and is currently shared by both staff and our guests. In the future, so much more as we continue to build. We also have a laundry facility, bathrooms, showers, and so much hang out space. We do not separate our guest quarters from our staff quarters so it is really important that the space stays clean and tidy. We detail clean every single day and our guests can tell! Our reviews are really great and we are passionate about keeping it that way.

We are a couple (Sander and Cristina) who have both volunteered with Workaway in the past. Now its our turn to be the hosts. We are finally living our dream and opening out very own hostel in our favorite place on earth. This area has so much to offer. The list of experiences you can sign up for just minutes away goes on and on. We plan to continue to build on the other part of our property in the near future. We would like to eventually open a bar, cafe, event space, and large community kitchen with plenty of space for many different outdoor games. We are also have a daughter joining our family March 2024 and we are so excited!
