Hello, namaste ☀️

I’m Soizic, my everyday name. Françoise is my official one, given by my parents… but they’ve never actually used it!

I was born in France and have been happily French-Canadian for the past 26 years, along with my husband and our four children. Since then, life has expanded beautifully: four grandchildren have joined the adventure, and my mother now lives with us too. Our family dinners are lively, noisy, full of conversations, good food, and laughter — just the way I love it.

For my sixtieth birthday, I decided to give myself something different: time. I left a job I truly loved to take a year to explore new paths, learn, grow, and follow what genuinely inspires me. One of those dreams is India.

Originally, the trip was a birthday gift from my children, and two of them were supposed to come with me. But I only had four weeks of vacation — and I quickly realized that four weeks wouldn’t even begin to scratch the surface of such a vast and fascinating country. So… one idea led to another, and I took the leap.

This fall, I’ll be volunteering as a teacher at Shanti Bhavan in Tamil Nadu. After going through their recruitment process, I realized I want to feel even more confident speaking English — which is one of the reasons I joined Workaway: to immerse myself in the language, share my time and energy, and experience meaningful human connections.

In the meantime, I volunteer in French-language integration programs with adults and teenagers. I love supporting people in their growth and building genuine relationships.

I enjoy long family dinners, outdoor weekends, traveling with my husband or one of several of my children, deep conversations about books and films, dancing, sitting on café terraces watching the world go by, wandering along quiet beaches at sunset, and sometimes… happily procrastinating. And I read. A lot.

I’m curious, open-minded, reliable, and always ready to learn. I’m looking forward to sharing daily life, helping where it’s needed and discovering new ways of living and thinking.
