I still consider myself somewhat of a workaway beginner, having had only three previous experiences with this organization, although I have had previous work experience with WWooF and HelpX. What they all have in common is these work-and-share encounters have been perhaps the most rewarding and insightful experiences for me. Nothing beats interaction with peoople from all walks of life whilst involved in the day-to-day. I am a recently retired school teacher currently in the planning stage of a one-year plus journey around the world. This of course means I am currently free to spend my time as I please. I have a farming background since I grew up on a small family-owned dairy farm. My interest, therefore, lies in learning more about organic farming, permaculture especially. So, if you believe I might be able to contribute something to your daily chores such as farming/gardening/small construction projects/taking care of animals as well as working with children, please get in touch with me – have time, will travel 😊, cheers, Rainer

I will be in South-East Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and then Japan from Nov. 2025 - April 2026, where I am probably just going to be a traveler. However, I do appreciate you reaching out to me if only to get to know each other a little bit and maybe share some stories.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I grew up on a dairy farm, and have been working as a farmer (mostly cash crops: wheat, barley, canolla, beans) on a large-scale farm in the north of German for approx. 25 years, always during school holidays, since my main job was teaching high school children English language and literature. I also taught geography/social studies and a bit of Japanese as an extracurricular activity. I used to live and work as a high school teacher in Japan before my German teaching career started. Therefore, I can offer both working with children (teaching or childcare in general) as well as doing farm-related jobs, including maintenance of buildings (although I am not a trained carpenter), repair work on machinery (again, no formal training in the mechanical engineering field), I can operate farm machinery (driving licence for heavy-duty machinery including trucks), not exactly a spring chicken anymore, but still physically fit ;-)

I consider myself to be reliable, friendly, outgoing/communicative and patient. I have lived in many different countries over the course of the past 35 years, so I am not easily intimidated by new locations/people/jobs, etc, as I feel I can adapt to new situations and challenges quickly.
