Hi, my name is Oscar and I am looking to explore as much of South Island as possible! I have a healthy sense of adventure and love to be outside more than anything, especially on and around rivers. Whitewater rafting is a passion of mine, as well as my job back in America, but I like to do anything outside including rock climb, ski, swim, etc. I live in Alaska in the northern hemisphere summers, so I already know that I love glaciers, mountains, and wildlife, and I am excited to see those things down here! I love to cook, both in a kitchen or on a camp stove, and I am passionate about healthy eating (ie. limiting processed foods, cooking with fresh ingredients, but not dieting). I also enjoy reading and writing; I use writing as a creative outlet and meditative practice. I love meeting people and making friends, but I prefer small groups and more low-key ways of spending time together over going out, although I do love live music. I am just happy to be here, and any good opportunities that come my way while traveling are just icing on the cake!

I also have a lot of experience driving heavy machinery, from box trucks to school buses to front end loaders.
I am an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician).

I would love to one day build my own off-grid tiny home and start a homestead, so any job in the field of building, gardening, animal rearing, etc. would be great for me to continue developing that experience!
