Hi! My name is Isabel, but I most often go by Izzy. I’m currently finishing up my B.A in Environmental Studies at a small work college in northern Vermont. My concentration is in Environmental and Agricultural Policy, and my studies have deeply explored sustainable food systems and ecology. I feel passionately about creating equitable, ecological and resilient local food systems.

I have done several work exchanges before through Workaway and WWOOF and it continues to be my favorite way to travel, experience community and share skills. Learning through work and service is an important value of mine. I treasure exploring new places and meeting new people, especially when I get to do that while learning new skills and building on the old.

In my next Workaway I’m hoping to learn more about permaculture and sustainable agriculture practices while exploring the west coast. I will bring a variety of skills related to sustainable agriculture and ecological land management. Some courses I have taken include permaculture design, agroforestry, and plant propagation as well as wildlife management and watershed ecology. My work experience includes many coffee shop jobs as well as positions at a native plant nursery, a small farm, and working with kids. Previous Workaway stays provided me with further skills in areas like livestock care, gardening and invasive species removal. Through my work program positions at school I have worked on the farm, kitchen and am currently working in the library.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Help at non-profit Buddhist ...)

I had such a special stay here! I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, generous and kind. Communication was always clear and questions were welcomed. The food was delicious, there wasn’t a meal I didn’t love. The nature the center is surrounded by is truly magical. I am so grateful for my time here.
