Hi, nice to meet you!

I’m Cyril, 20 years old and currently studying medicine in Switzerland.
The same thing that drove me to choose medicine as my future path also led me to sign up for Workaway: connecting and working with people.

And where better to do this than in a foreign country, living and working with a bunch of strangers, getting to know and experiencing their culture for a couple of weeks? Having already volunteered on an organic farm in Wales and in a remote public school in Costa Rica, I hope to find my next destination here.

In addition to connecting with others, I’m motivated by the opportunity to leave a positive mark on the world. I hope to improve my Spanish, all the while connecting with locals and, as a student, hopefully staying on a budget.

I‘m looking forward to connecting with new people and sharing experiences!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’m a fast learner and always eager to acquire new skills. Here are some of the experiences I bring to the table:

Cleaning and Maintenance: I have experience in cleaning and caring for rooms, gained from working in a Swiss hospital where I prepared rooms for new patients. Additionally, while volunteering in a school in Costa Rica, I spent time sweeping floors, cleaning classrooms, and maintaining the garden.

Gardening and Farm Work: My main responsibilities on a farm in rural Wales included gardening, digging trenches, splitting wood, and managing weeds.

Child Supervision and Education: While volunteering in Costa Rica, I supervised children aged 5 to 16, teaching them basic reading, writing, and English skills.

First Aid Expertise: As a medical student and a member of the Swiss Organization „Samariter“, which offers first aid training, I have extensive first aid knowledge and provide assistance at regional events. My training as a combat medic and military doctor in the Swiss Armed Forces equips me to handle medical situations effectively, which could be valuable in any setting.

I’m excited to bring my experiences to new opportunities and contribute to the projects I join!

I love being active and trying out new sports. Whenever I get the chance I go windsurfing, climbing, running or hiking.
When talking about more consistent hobbies, I‘ve been doing kickboxing for more than 6 years now, and have been a kickboxing coach for 2 years. I‘m giving weekly classes for beginners and intermediates, and am part of a great team whose mission it is to bring self-defense to schools and other events in order to boost the confidence and physical shape of the children in our area.
